The tables are DONE!!!!

What a relief and what a night's sleep! One big thing off my list. I don't mind projects at home or at work as much as ones that I have to go somewhere else to do. No bathroom, no kitchen, no music or tv, how can you work under such adverse conditions? Fifteen of them, FIFTEEN! I left last night with the thought in my mind that I would stay until they were finished. When a big storm blew up and the power flickered and went off, I thought it was over for the night, but the power returned and at 10:30 they were done, paints and tools hauled home and out of my car for the first time in two weeks.










On Sunday we went to a corn roast/polka festival at a local farm market. They are customers of ours and we had made the shirts for the event. If you are in this area, you have to visit Yarnick's Farms near Indiana, PA. They have the BEST produce anywhere. I bought the sweetest cantaloupes that I have ever eaten!

They even have a pick your own flower field. The flowers are .25 a stem, what a great way to have a beautiful bouquet. My flowers are not so great this year, but these were so pretty. I did not get any Sunday, but while I was waiting on John to come back, I snapped these pics.





I really have to grow sunflowers next year.

YOU GO GIRL WITH YOUR BADD SELF!...lol....you really have talent when it comes to that paint brush!...I know first hand from some of the swap goodies I recieved from you!...so, I know those table are just Bee-u-tee-full!

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
