Ninety-two pictures?

Image
OK, really, I am not going to show them all to you so don't zone out now.  I took ninety-two pictures!  There were so many interesting things and I wanted to document it all! I loved the lights on the water, wouldn't this make a great background for something? And while I don't understand architecture, I love to look at old buildings and these two were among my favorites. There were art displays along the river walk and they were made from recycled junk!  Of course that got my attention.   You may see more of those tomorrow.  This one was bowling balls and bowling pins and some other junk.  Of course, I had to find The Fonz! Another interesting tower on a building. This is one of the bridge necklaces.  They were also made from recycled junk. I got a big chuckle out of the wide selection of Cheesehead Attire! These are from our visit to Port Washington and Cedarburg.  What a lovely place!  I would love to go back.  So pretty! This i...

Last night in Milwaukee!

I have had the BEST time, pics to follow.  I have spent wonderful days with my friends, Patti and Mike and they have been the greatest tour guides that anyone could ask for.  Mike is so knowledgeable about the area (other than the bridge necklaces) and I love Milwaukee.  The people are so friendly.  I have wandered the streets alone in the evenings, exploring and looking around, taking pictures like a tourist and everyone speaks that you pass on the street.  I just got back from the FEDEX store, where I shipped all of my dirty clothes home to make room for all the items that I bought here in my suitcase.  So much cheaper than shipping an extra bag home on the airlines, and I really think more reliable.  We leave for the airport tomorrow morning at six and as I walked around the city one more time this evening, I realized that I am sad to be leaving.  There is so much more here to explore.  Photos to follow when I get home!

A New Purse!

Image
I have had this fabric since the trip to Ohio with my Mom and friends.  I thought it was time to make it..finally.  I have been procrastinating this for so long because it has been years since I actually followed a pattern for anything. I can't wait to make another one!  Funny event of the day:  First of all it was not when Logan used a whole roll of toilet paper to stop up the bathroom sink, causing me to have to tear all the plumbing apart and scoop and plunge and sift and well...yuck, that was not the funny one.  Actually this one should not be THAT funny, it could have been really bad and could still have ramifications to come.  Logan comes into the shop today, he and Tyler were playing in the backyard and he announces, "I ate some of that fruit!"  Jenn and I race outside to see what fruit he might have found.  The neighbor had laid some rotting fruit on a cement block beside her burn barrel and it was covered with flies and he ATE it....

A whole week of projects.

Image
Hard to believe a whole week has gone by and I have not been to Blogland.  I have been working on several projects.  This tray has been sitting here waiting to be painted for a customer and since Shawnee and I are leaving Saturday for Milwaukee, I figured I better finish it for a little extra spending money. Same with this cake cover.  It was to match the customer's china.  I hope that she likes it. And since I still can't get this new picture loader figured out, these are a little out of order.  These are photos of a sign that also was an order that I finished up this week. And this is the sign.  It is in the basement and I am running there every half hour to get coats of varnish on it. This was a gift for a wedding that I hurriedly painted on Saturday while the little boys watched taped tractor pulls.  They have to be the only little boys around that know that Pulltown USA is in Bowling Green, Ohio.  I see a road trip in the future. And wh...

VBS Week

Image
Just some pics of the decorations for VBS this week.  All of the windows had these vines and animals in them.  This is the entryway to the church and the rainforest diorama that my son-in-law helped me put together.  It is on loan to our church and will be moving on to another VBS later this summer.  The waterfall really works. The set for the play, a camp outpost in the rainforest.  I think I used every green and brown I had on that.  I had to hit Michaels last Saturday and buy those colors to restock.

What I did not plan for my Sunday night.

Relaxing weekend, I even managed to fit in a few naps.  Not the norm for me, but last week was really hectic and this week is VBS and we (my family and I) are in charge of games and after you work all day and then run around the field with 150 kids in 20 minute intervals with no breaks for 2 1/2 hours, well let's just say that I think that the naps were needed to prepare.  Wait and see how many I take next weekend! Anyway, I had the boys outside riding their bikes, riding their gator, riding through the shrubbery, pretending that they were in the jungle, (if my rhododendrons survive grandchildren, it will be a miracle) when they both decided that I little dip in the spa was in order.  Now Logan did not have on a swimmie diaper, but I thought it was only a little dip in the spa, we would be OK.  So in we went, splashing and giggling and the next thing you know, I grab Logan and feel his little lumpy bum in his cute little underwear...POOP!  I  am sure it...

Changing clothes.

Image
How many times a day do we change our clothes?  Am I the only one that does this? Wake up change from jammies to running clothes, home from running, shower and into sweats and a t-shirt, then off to town and change into jeans and nice shirt, then home again and back into the sweats and t-shirt and now tonight back into jammies.  Is all this necessary?               Since I have not been here since Monday, I have some things to show for the last two weeks.  Most of the evenings this week were spent at the church decorating for VBS.  Thanks to my son-in-law, Ryan, the foyer looks amazing.  He helped me all Monday evening and we built an entire rainforest room complete with working waterfall.  A little overboard? Yes.  I have heard it more than once this week. Of course I have forgotten to take my camera with me every evening.  Hopefully I can remember it tomorrow. Finished t...

Monday Morning

Image
What a busy week ahead.  Once again, I have put off the VBS decorations until the week before.  Every year I say that I am going to start earlier and every year, I do them the week ahead.  This year, I don't think that I will even bother thinking that I might be more prepared next year.  I am just going to deal with my procrastination and embrace it! A couple more of these little purses to add to the stash in the attic for the Open House. And I finished up some of these towels this morning.  And these are the ones for the swap that I am in with my painting group.  I can't picture the fronts yet, that would ruin the surprise.  Great feeling to have them done!

First look at the ocean.

Image
Jenn and Chris and the boys left for Myrtle Beach Friday night after Tyler's t-ball game.  They drove all night so that the boys would sleep on the trip. Saturday morning they sent us this picture of the boys first look at the Ocean.  I thought that the picture was priceless.  Had to share it! How I wish I was there with them!

Thrift shopping day!

Image
I have not been thrift shopping, yard sale shopping or flea market shopping much at all this year.  The last few days made up for that though.  I found these little dolls and a bag of bracelets at a sale the other day.  Gracelyn played witha the bracelets all day today while we shopped.  $1,25. The crystals were $1 for each strand. Quick photo of the afghan I finished before I left this morning.  And this was one of the shops that we went to today.  It is on Route 28 north of Brookville, Pa and on the way to Cooks Forest, interesting shop and pretty good prices. Some window screens and a wire basket.  Why can't I get my pictures clear?    $1.50 for everything.  Some summer reads, but with as much as I have laid out to read this summer, it may be next summer until I get to them.  50 cents each. Oh, and a clock radio.  I needed one and it works. $1 Lazy Susan trays...free!  A picture for my kitchen 50 cents. Lids t...
