Kennywood

Image
A Day at Kennywood.  My one time a year that I get to ride all the fun coasters! Considering that my Dad was still riding them at  80 years young,  I think I might have  20 years left to ride.  I sure hope this boy will still ride with me for all those years!

No More Happy Meals!

Image
Saturday night and the boys and I headed  to  Pittsburgh Mills.   I wanted them to try zip-lining.  They were hesitant.      So we settled on bungee jumping. However,  on the way,  since we were running a little late,  we drove through McDonald's. Tyler, bordering quickly on 12, has apparently passed by the whole happy meal thing and  orders  two double cheeseburgers and a Diet Coke.  (Gramma refused to kill his brain cells with a Diet Coke) and  Logan is struggling.  "A 20 piece Chicken Nugget, No wait... there is a Mario Toy I want a Chicken Nugget Happy Meal  and  a  10 piece Nuggets"  So I order.  The girl wants to know what he wants to drink with that Happy Meal.  I ask him and he replies, "I think I'll have a French Vanilla Latte!" I calmly reply that Lattes are not on the Happy Meal menu. We fina...

A Day at the Science Center

Image
The boys love this place!  It has been two years since they were there. This time the weather was good enough that they could go to the submarine. I think that might have been a favorite! Along with Sports Works. And Papaw and Logan had to experience the hurricane.   And a surprise when Gracelyn and Garren were also there! And... with much trepidation I post this not so flattering angle! Just to show I BEAT THOSE BOYS UP THE ROCK WALL!

Do they realize...

...how soon this is all going to end? Shirt sleeves and bicycle helmets will soon be replaced with scarves and mittens, hats and boots and winter coats. Let's not tell them!   Let's enjoy these last few nice days and remember them when we are freezing and complaining!

Suitcases-Not Just for Travel

Image
Wow, do I have a lot of suitcases now!  Wait until you see what prompted this!   First of all, here is a card suitcase that I made for a friend's daughter this past summer. And then I wondered how many I had in the house? This one in my family room, just decorative, holds nothing. And this one holding the phone... it really needs redecorated. This one, given to me by a dear friend. I painted it and it holds small needlework in the living room. That same dear friend, brought these to me this fall. They also sit in the living room and hold my art supplies.   Shhhh, don't tell the grandkids, I don't think they have figured that out yet. These are all in one spare bedroom. Decorative? Not really. They are holding part of the fabric stash. These are in another spare bedroom. Yep, fabric again. Fabric Fabric Buttons.... Oh my! I am a Decorative Hoarder!  Wonder if the...

just might drive me right over the edge!  Adorable?  Of course. But their latest shenanigan? Well, had a lot of people laughing,  but not me...yet.  They love to change my answering machine. I forget to check it after they are gone.  Usually they are fun, cute little messages and  I like them.  This time they set me up. Exasperated me to the point of yelling at them. (which who am I kidding, it might happen more often than I like to admit) And taped it!  And used it! As  My  Message!  It was there for three weeks.  Me yelling at those adorable little faces!  And then, put on the machine for everyone to hear!  And... no one told me! Until yesterday.  A customer had called our house,  then called the shop  and asked me if I had checked my message lately.  "Why no", I replied.  "What is it?" She informed me that it was m...

Quilting Weekend

Image
I picked out the pattern over a year ago. I think that Mom has fretted over it since then.   A year of finding the fabrics, all batiks, coming from quite a few states and trips.   Finally this weekend, we started. Figuring, sorting, cutting, figuring, re cutting, sorting, figuring and finally some sewing.   It all took me back to high school geometry class and poor Mr. Simerlink.   I am really not sure he ever liked me, but I sure would have made him proud this weekend.   I used every bit of geometry that I remember. (which is not much considering it was 40 years ago!) This is what my dining room looked like for much of the weekend. And it even spilled out onto the kitchen floor at one point!   Mom brought in Kamden's quilt that she had finished. This one looks a lot easier! Some time out for Gracelyn Cheering, she is the little blonde in the middle. And ...

Happy Six Years, Little Boy

Image
Yesterday, Tyler turned six. He is our first grandchild, the one that we have learned on, loved on and made most of the mistakes on. The first. Four girls, our daughters, and then this little boy. He is active, He is wild, He is noisy, but he is loving, caring and always ready to go anywhere Grandma will take him. Anywhere. I say Let's he is ready before I get "Go" out of my mouth. We have been through bumped heads,  bruised knees, a Preschool Drop-out. Well actually, they ASKED that he not be brought back. and eventually... Preschool graduation, Kindergarten graduation, let's just say, the principal knows his name... and he knows what the inside of her office looks like. Many Halloweens, Many Christmas holidays! Easters and every holiday, Tyler You have brightened our life and made it a better place. And then today. You were talking to a friend. You were trying to be cool. and Grandma asked you to go someplace with her... and you said "NO...
