Samuel’s School

Image
In December, I had the opportunity to travel to West Bengal, India on a mission trip with my church. Six of us made the trip to care for the children of mission workers who would be attending a conference there.   The last full day that we were there we went to a school in a nearby village and met Samuel who runs the school there.  He is a converted Hindu and teaches Hindu children a Christian based curriculum in English.   His school has been very successful because of the high quality of education he is providing.   This allows him to present the gospel to children and their parents often.  The problem?  He has more students than classroom space.  And three swings for over 200 children!  Such well behaved children! Such even lines!  Some of the older children are having outside class! They are starting a classroom on the second floor.  Here is where my part of the story comes in.   Samuel’s school was my moment.  That moment ...

Not quite finished...

Still wanting to make some pillows, but it’s close.  The counter from before, after I (and the scrub water) fell off of it when it broke off the wall disappeared.  First of all, who knew it would hold one foot of this not so petite frame?  The wall then needed painted.   I stood staring at a green, a beige and a red.  Of course, the red won!    Last night I finally got this lamp that I have hoarded  saved put in the space. Now to get rid of the small lamp.  I also need to thoroughly clean the bookshelves, but that’s for another day.  These have been my work counter projects for the last three work days.   I think I am stocked up for awhile.

Let’s Decorate!

Ok, these are some raw before photos!   I bought this chaise along with several van loads of furniture.  I loved it as soon as I saw it but wasn’t sure where I would put it.   JWS put a stop to the idea of having it in the family room.   I then figured it would go to camp, but that was going to take some cleaning.   Then the idea hit. It never ceases to amaze me the ideas he has!   This area was initially my paint room.   Seventeen years ago!  As girls moved out and got married, I got moved to spare bedrooms to paint and then eventually clear out of the house.   JWS took over this area with a treadmill and made it somewhat into a closet... And it has been a catch all junk area.   It’s time to reclaim, refurnish and CLEAN!  So, raw before pics are necessary.   Follow along as I decorate and make this a fun little reading corner!    All suggestions welcome!!!
