Hoot, Hoot

Perusing Pinterest can suck up a lot of time. Anyone who has taken the plunge and joined can attest to that. However, that being said, it is a great place for inspiration. Had something like this in my mind, for all those sample books of fabric that my Mom's friend sends to me. So, above was the prototype and... of course, I had to get a little carried away. My girls would say, "Another manic moment, Mom?" I call it Stash Busting. And, these were from last week. Turning some samples, ideas, and plain,  just stuff laying around, into barrettes. That's it, folks. I am still recovering from the weekend of little boys. I think that they wore me out!

Open House Cramming

Image
Just like cramming for a test, I have been cramming to get things done for the Open House. I work at it all year... why do I do this every year? Sewing and painting and more painting, and more sewing. And this was my big oops this week. I painted this then got the idea to put a handle on it. Found an old leather belt and promptly attached it... completely CROOKED! I then had to sand it down and repaint the face. Dumb, Yes!

Summer projects

Sorry to disappoint all of you, but today is not a coffee snorting kind of story. Just some stuff that I dug out of my sewing room, and FINISHED! I started these stockings last fall at our ladies sewing weekend. Done. And this pillow...started at the same time. These little barrettes stay in a container and I dig them out and work on them every now and then. And a little bit of knitting in between.  Lightweight yarn that is not too hot to work on in the heat. On a good note, it finally cooled off a little here and we had some rain. Amazing how quick everything greened up again.

300th post!

Who would have ever thought? Boy, do I talk a lot ! Nothing monumental to tell, to mark the occasion, just the same old blah, blah, blah that I normally do, read more by family and friends than anything. Thanks for reading, thanks for your comments (I love comments), thanks for giving me an ear to vent, to tell, to brag about my grandchildren, to show my "creations" and to air the day to day stories! A late birthday present from the Disney travelers. Shawnee stitched this pillow for me. I had seen this on a plaque somewhere and have always wanted it somewhere in my house. It will sit in my recliner. I love it! And for the weekend. No, this is not me, but here are my weekend plans. I will be walking my first 5K on Saturday. After John finished the half marathon on Sunday, we all thought is was over, the training, the talking, the PREACHING! Then he starts searching for the next run. I know he was, I know how to look at the history in the computer. Realizing that t...

Squares and Circles Penny Rug Pillow

Image
A second post in one day! But I was so happy to finish this item. The picture makes it look a lot brighter than the colors actually are. This is my own pattern that I thought up. I realized that I like to sew in circles much more than straight lines so I struggled with this!

One more almost done and a mumbo jumbo mess

Image
This is going to be a pillow for one of the girls, I still need to make a pillow form for it so we are going to call it 6 3/4 for now. Wish I could find some more of that nice black wool, that was the last in my stash. The basket holds my ornaments that I am working on...it is a real mess but for now it is working.

The first project

Image
This was actually the first finished project in the 30 in 30 days race that I am in with my sister. This was made from all recycled wool and is sort of my own design. My step-daughter had seen something similar to it in Create and Decorate and I sort of adjusted it to my liking. This is for her for Christmas.
