Suwannee Quilt Shop

Image
Let me start by saying,  I have been in my share of quilt shops.   I am sure, not as many as real quilters, but I would venture to say that  I have seen more quilt shops than your average  non-quilter. IN LOTS  OF  STATES. This shop was by far THE BEST! Quilts,  Antiques, A Soda Shop Food Desserts and a  LOT OF  FABRIC!  A ton of fabric!! Everything was so artfully arranged!  Mom loved it also!  A whole room of Christmas! A room for fall. And then,  Everything else so  beautifully arranged!  Kid's rooms,  Orientals, Batiks, Civil War Prints,  Food Prints,  A room to browse books and patterns.... If you are anywhere close... make sure you visit, or make the day trip to see it.  The food was excellent and there is a lovely tea room  and  antique shop next door....

Museum, Part 2

A few things that I have painted for my Mom over the years. And a couple of Mom's quilts. This is made with one inch squares. How much patience does that take? It was so good to be home. I can't tell you when I was ever as homesick as I was on Friday.    Mom is improving some, she sounds better on the phone, I hate the 100 miles that seperate us more than ever right now.   Thank you again for all the prayers!

Ribbons!

Fair entries and ribbons! Dad won one also. And Mom did well.  This is Garren's baby quilt. Blue Ribbon Winner! And her crayon bags, another Blue Ribbon Winner. This one will be listed on my selling blog today!

Congratulations, What an Accomplishment!

Image
First of all, Congratulations are in order for my husband. He completed the Pittsburgh Half Marathon over the weekend. Not a life-long runner, he started this training this winter after running several 5k races last year. With all the difficulties that we faced this winter, he persevered and continued his training in between the busy schedule of daily hospital visits to Pittsburgh for seven weeks and the new "normal" that our life has become of running to dialysis treatments and trying to balance our business along with the chaos that our lives already were before all this happened. It took a lot of work and determination and this medal is just a small token for him of the sense of accomplishment that he has. I am so proud of him! Unfortunately, I could not be there with him this weekend. I had made plans for spend the weekend with my Mom in Ohio for a quilt show and shop hop. The plans had been made, rooms booked before we realized that not only was it the same weeke...

And they are done!

These quilts turned into one of my biggest projects in a long time. Step 1: Jenn looks up comforts online and tells me that the price. Step 2: Me: Let's just go buy fabric to match the room and I'll just make nice 5" squares and Mom and I will put them together in a day and we'll tie them and they will be nicer than anything you can buy and they'll match the room and they won't be any more money and I can even make you curtains. It will all be done in a week. (that was sometime when the weather was warm...can't tell you when) Step 3: Buy the fabric, hey I blogged that, maybe I can tell when I started them. Anyway the total for the fabric was a little more than they would have cost ready made, buy hey, these will be nicer and you will have curtains to match. Step 4: Maybe I'll make the center with something a little nicer than just blocks, what about their names? Step 5: Well, I've already put so much work into that, let's do something a lit...

I WON!!!

My very first giveaway! Cath at http://cathspennies.blogspot.com/ picked me to win this cute little pillow. I love it! And just when I had packed away the fall ones that she made for me, this one just stepped in and took their place. Thanks so much, Cathy! If you have not visited her blog, do so. She has the neatest wool things and is now publishing her own line of patterns. I am really on a "finishing" kick and none too soon! Finished these on Thursday, they are on the Varnishing Table in the basement. An order for a customer. Next year I am not taking orders. Someone please remind me of that about October or November when I am weak and can't say "NO!" That reminder can be from anyone in Blogland or of course, my family and friends. To my family and friends, you have permission to snick me if I say yes! Finished these for Shelby and family for at her house. Made this just because the thought popped in my mind. It is really not for anyone alth...
