Last Friday, Next Friday

Image
Last Friday was spent at Conneaut Lake Park. One of my favorite places to be.. I went there when I was young. I took my girls there and now my grandchildren. The park has struggled over the years, but they are persevering and coming back. It was so nice to see a nice crowd a clean midway, and ride attendants that went above and beyond to make sure that all the families had a great day! Four generations spent the day there Mom and Dad, Me Shelby Gracelyn, Kendall and Garren. There was something for everyone! Such a relaxing day! And next Friday, I start this. A painting class in Virginia at the Pampered Palette. I can't wait. It has been a long time since I have taken a seminar. Three days of painting, no phone, no stress, no demands. What a break! I have always loved this painting. This well worn book sits on my coffee table all the time. I even bought this piece a few y

Pantry Cakes, Painting and a Parade

Image
Gracelyn decided to stack these pantry cakes that we made over the weekend. Her version of a wedding cake. She took the cinnamon process of pantry cakes very serious.   The rest of the time... this was her movement level. Garren seems to be at his happiest when he is eating. The beginning of the pantry cake process. Believe me, after the third batch, nothing was this clean and shiny. The candy cane parade went on loudly for quite awhile. Garren even joined in at one point. Garren seemed to think this was really funny! Gracelyn with her wedding cake! And even another painting finished. We also spent a day at Conneaut, just not sure where I filed those pics!

Snowmen in July

Guess you can't start on them too early. Finally finished this milkcan. Some dark houses... and the deer heads are done! Well, at least the three that I had a deadline on. Hope to get the other one done this week. Pics of those tomorrow! Aren't you glad I warned you?

Barn Raising and My New Job!

Image
This barn is being raised at the fairgrounds and right below our home. JWS is more than slightly pre-occupied with all this right at the moment. This is the view of it from our back yard. It is a draft horse barn for the fair and will hopefully be ready for the fair when it starts in less than a month. There are better pics on JWS' phone, but he is gone for the day. So how does this get a new job for me? Well, I am to take pictures of the events of the day for the local newspaper today, but, I already have a job for the day. Deliver my MIL to dialysis and deliver the invitations for my niece's reception (pictured later) to my mother. So, delegation is the key. Jenn, although she does not know it yet, will be the official Leader-Vindicator reporter of the day. Delegate. I love that word! Thursday, while my printer was in the hospital, I found this place. Carnegie Antiques. What a great little store! Hot

Remember the case I found at an antique shop a week or so ago? It didn't make it far, but for now, this is it's home.  I think I need new candles! The Great Door Delivery of Yesterday. Now to get them to the basement... but first to find room for them in the basement. Thank Goodness, JWS is more than slightly pre-occupied with fair preparations and barn building. He has not had time to comment, complain, whine, or completely go nuts with this latest escapade. The only thing he said was, "Did you really NEED those?" Really? Who doesn't need 70+cabinet doors? I mean really, they match the 100+ cabinet doors in the basement already. It's a collection! (It might be a hoard, but let's not use that word just yet.) I will end this with my sudden realization of yesterday. I got to work and all attempts to fix my printer have failed miserably. It is a large format printer that we use to make th

Done! The pillow from the four week embroidery class. Done! Twenty of these for a bridal shower. Done! Two more little pillows, and... an apology. Almost Done. Needs Varnished. Almost Done. Just needs some details and varnished. And  Half Done. Two Orange Camo and One Snow Camo and One still under the counter. Not even close. Another Rug. Almost Done Embroidery Project Not Even Close. Yarn, still looking for a pattern. Not Even Close. ANOTHER Embroidery Project. Not Even Close

My weekend so far...

Image
Well, it is going to be one of THOSE posts, so hang on! Keep in mind the 100+ degree heat that runs throughout this entire account. Also keep in mind that there are two small window air conditioners in this house that work really hard, but just don't keep up. So with that said.... of course I did get this rug finished. I had hoped to get these done... but... well there is still today. Twenty of these to do, and I have five done. So, much of the weekend has no pics, you will have to use your imagination. Friday night after work Wyatt arrived. Keep in mind that while we have called the two oldest boys a couple of Rotties, this little boy is wilder than they ever were. He is 18 months of constant motion. I am talking "batten down the hatches" wild. From 5:00pm until 8:00pm he emptied my spice cupboard and I was getting him out of that, I didn't notice that he had a small contain
