Another Snowman Tutorial - Free Painting Pattern

Image
Before you cringe and run the other direction, get ready... there is no pattern.  C'mon, you can do it,  it's just circles.... really.  You want to cut a piece of  Roclon Multipurpose Cloth,  roughly 10 x 18   I always cut them a little bigger,  paint over the edges and then trim it last.  I used a quart paint can for the circles   Overlap them on the bottom a little. Trace another line in 1 1/4 inch in  on each side.  These are the blues that I used  Sprinkle them on liberally and paint them in.  Everyone's background will be different.  Beautiful!   Don't overblend.   Allow that to dry.  Sand lightly. Next you will need these colors.  You can use a stencil for the star or freehand it  Trace in the circles again and  add the noses and  let's basecoat  everything!  ...

Half Finished

Image
That is what I am choosing to call all this stuff.  UNFINISHED sounds so  "glass half empty" The quilt was started last weekend at  Ladies Sewing Retreat.  What fun!  The afghan is for  Shelby's class'  Linus Project.  Not needed until January-ish. Tons of doodles....in progress.  And this. The little quilt and pillow is finished.  Now to paint the cradle.  Cramming for the open house now!

Junk Collages and Jewelry Hangers

Just putting together junk and  making some of it into jewelry hangers. And having fun collecting  STUFF!

Art Retreat at The Lake

Image
What a fun event!  Two full days of painting and creating and even a little cooking!  It was the first year for what is sure to become a yearly event! Hammered wire earrings. The beautiful scenery of Lake Chautaqua. Gelli plate printing! Of course, it will become another addiction. Some fun with sharpies and paper. And honestly, these people even allowed me in their kitchen. Take that, JWS! Beautiful weather! Lots of messy creativity! and Best of All... New friends made along the way!  And now for me,  back to painting and getting ready for the open house.  But first,  company again this weekend!  Mom and friends are coming for a  Sewing Retreat at  the unofficial Strate B & B. I can't wait!  We have been trying to plan this for several years  and  something always happens, Four days away  and it looks like a go this year!     ...

Totally Tangled

Image
How hooked am I? Totally hooked  and  tangled.  But having fun and  creating simply for the sake of creating.  Nothing to market. No decisions on price, or if it is even marketable.... Simply having fun.  How many of these do I have started? Way more than I have finished!

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

Image
What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

A Clown Free Auction

Image
And they are rare happenings because JWS generally manages to find clowns.  I "won"  this cute little card table. And this crock, that I quit bidding on and  JWS picked up where I left off.  I have a yellow one like it,  have never seen this color.  I loved this fabric,  however it resembled swiss cheese when I removed it from the  washer. The risk you take. I bought a box,  for the planter below and there was this retro looking ash tray in it.  Ash trays just aren't needed like they used to be!  I have been looking for a set of these salt and pepper shakers  for my camper.  Anyone remember these!  A stand  and a ladder to chalk paint.  And my sister found some treasures also.  The cornucopia? I think she is going to paint it white.
