Easter, A Week Later

Image
I have seen all the pics. Perfectly dressed and coiffed children under lovely spring blossoms... not happening in this house.  This is the best we get.  If I get them all in the same frame we have accomplished something major!    Tyler, who informed me that I was not to get him in any pictures.  Apparently he is creating his own  social media presence and  running around a yard with a pink bucket  does not fit his image.      These two don't care,  they are off to find the golden egg!  Three of them scrambling for one of the prized golden eggs.    Kamden using a mode of transportation to find all of his.    And how well my overgrown landscaping worked to hide those eggs!   I knew that,  that's why i didn't clean out flower beds!

Annie Oakley meets Rainbow Brite

Image
Shelby's words, not mine, But they might be a pretty accurate!   I think that the quilt is softening the purple,  but maybe I am delusional!  This cabinet/counter is almost in place,  thanks to my son in law and his friend.  Soon it will be full of paint supplies  and ready for prepping and finishing projects!  It is always good to have strong backs around.  My Easter family celebration  is next week,  so I might slip in some time  working on this project today.    I hope that you and your family have a very Happy Easter and  remember that we serve a risen Lord!  Personally, I had a huge answer to prayer in my life this weekend.  Emotional for me in that it has been an on-going  struggle that I have never turned over to God  until yesterday.  And He answered, quickly and I have peace. James 4:2 You have not because you a...

Seven Days

Image
Seven Days of Creativity. It's a start!   It's an app!   Well, not exactly a creativity app, but a calendar that allows you to post a pic everyday!     So, often I make these huge lists the first of the year, only to find them in a stack of papers in June, largely unfinished and leaving me feel like I have done NOTHING! So, this year, I decided to scrap the lists... well not completely, and try this. Finishing a project a day.     Suppose it will work? Even if it doesn't... I have SEVEN projects done!

Shouldn't this be getting easier?

These are in the order they happened.  Garren does not like Kamden,  hence the gap on the right.  It's Ok, Kamden doesn't know he is not liked.  This was also the best picture.  The photo shoot deteriorated from that point.  Garren is now glaring at Kamden.  Kamden is quizzical,  Wyatt, impatient, Kendall and Gracelyn, fine.  Tyler and Logan see the fun in the confrontation.  Everyone is still kind of OK here, although Wyatt has had enough and Garren is shrinking into Wyatt.  Everyone on the left is squished.  Kamden still has lots of room.  Wyatt is gone, he has had enough, the troops are restless.  Kamden is still happy with life.  The gap is growing and Tyler is almost over it.  Kendall is bored.  Gracelyn, ever the cheerleader is still good with everything!  Logan is in pain Kamden is chillin'. Kamden deci...

Pics and No Pics

Image
Pics of finished projects. Lots of eggs. An afghan done! Wyatt's handprint on the wall, finally. Now all we need is Garren's. These are over the bathtub, just noticed that Gracelyn's is a little crooked. Another finished dress. And you see how blurry these pictures are? Even with steady shot set on the camera, this little boy is way too fast. Finally got him to sit still for a minute. Maybe he was tired, I know I was! And now for the no pics. Wyatt, taking a huge bite out of a roll of toilet paper while I was running bath water, then peeing on the floor, then when I finally got him in the tub and thought, "Wow, he is corralled, I can sit right here and not have to chase him." He puked the toilet paper all through the bath water. So much for that peaceful moment! And the second no pic. Laundromat, Saturday. Everything is done and dry and folded. And... Where is my MIL's comforter that she sent with me? and Where is my favorite blanket that my mother ma...

How to go from Christmas to Easter..

Image
..in one step. This is not a tutorial anyone is going to want to follow. You see, it is spring and I still had these Christmas lights up. No excuse for it. The weather has been beautiful. I guess I was just being lazy. You see, I sprayed these twigs white and put them in my planters out front and strung lights in them one snowy December day. I thought they look cool. And then I didn't take them down. This morning, I walked out to get rid of them and this is what I found. They are growing! Racking my sleep-deprived brain, I tried to remember where I cut them from. think... think... THINK! LILACS! You see, I have this lilac bush that never blooms. It gets tons of leaves, but never a flower. So I thought, "Why not sacrifice it for Christmas decorations." And now.. I have new lilac starts to plant somewhere else! I could get all philosophical and spiritual about that... new birth, new life, but really, Who would have thought spray painted, dead branches left cut all win...

Are the eggs cooked?

Image
Really? That is how I am now answering that question.  Followed by; How disorganized do you think I am? It's been another one of those weeks. Dead battery in my car. SOMEONE hit the truck and dented in the side. Tax day. Still fighting the ants. Rain. Rain. Rain. Finally mowing the grass. Lots of t-shirts to print. Dialysis driving day. Battle with the common cold....or allergies. Missed doctor's appointment. Out of blood pressure medicine. Out of thyroid medicine. and still.... I managed to boil the eggs. Well I did two dozen and then JWS thinking I didn't have enough, did another two dozen. Point is, They were cooked and cooled in cartons in the fridge waiting to be dyed. So yesterday is my day to drive to dialysis. Shawnee has a doctor's appointment, I am going to drop my MIL at dialysis and go to Shawnee's and keep the girls until my Mom and Dad get there to take over and then I have to go back and pick up the dialysis patient and somewhere fit in some shopping ...

Grandma's Chair

Image
Grandma's Chair might be getting too small for all of them to sit in it together. It is so hard to get all four of them to sit together so I guess if we just cram them all together and they can't move, it is a good time for a picture! We had our Easter celebration with our family on Friday night. They hunted eggs in all the disaster area that we call our yard right now. Dirt and Mud and holes and ditches, but it was alright, the mess doesn't seem to bother the little ones. They hunted eggs. And some were up high enough only for the tallest one to reach. And SOMEBODY (Dianna) thought that Kendall needed a BLUE peep. Her little blue face was so cute! They roasted marshmallows. The kids got us this fire pit for Christmas. I love it! John likes it also, but he calls it a yuppie fire pit. He warned Brian not to bring us any of that "redneck" firewood, that it would not fit in our "yuppie" fire pit. Gracelyn , who is normally scared of Uncle C...

Hunting Eggs, Procrastination, and Can a Lollipop bring this much JOY?

Image
Sheer JOY! To be this young and to have something as simple as a lollipop bring this much joy! I think it was the highlight of his day! Sunday morning I woke up with the idea that I SHOULD have made each of the girls a necklace for Easter. Although shopping is not yet on my recovery list, I realized that I COULD have made them something and that is when I also realized that it is not too late. Off to the craft room at 5 in the morning and before I went to church I had three of them made, after church one more and wrapped them in dishcloths for each of the girls. It was fun to bead again and I think that I will make another to add to the Recovery Giveaway that I am having....make sure that you go and sign up for it. I will be drawing the winner next Sunday.....official jolt into reality day that it is time to get back to the real world. So far...the Recovery Giveaway contains a dishcloth, of course, and a penny rug and a couple of painted pieces and hopefully will contain a lovely pie...
