December is here already?

Image
It’s been another week of running and lists.    Chores and obligations and things that have to be done.   There doesn’t seem to be any down time built into all this.  I thought today was going to be the day and  last night, reminders came in for  orders that people want …yesterday!    This vine was a gift item,  that needed done.              The tree in Ford City needed decorated.  Not my best work,  but checked off the list in the freezing cold!  The half hour ride home with every heating accessory in my car on full blast, didn’t quite thaw me out!          This is one of the seven or eight quilt tops stacked up in  need of visiting the quilter. When I got this one back,  I gave her three more and said to space them out a little  for my pocketbook’s sake.   This one jus...

The Possessed Hutch

Image
So, the saga of the hutch. I beleive it is creating a history of it’s own.    My mom and dad moved last July to a smaller house.  Mom had all these beautiful cobalt dishes that she displayed in her old (larger) house on a plate rail that ran all around her dining room.    The new kitchen has a place for a hutch and we started to look for one.  A woman walked in the shop one day with a picture of this one for a great price.   I would have to go and pick it up.    The problem was... I was on crutches and non weight bearing.  But the hutch was perfect.  So, a quick call to my grandsons and a suggestion to draw straws  over who gets HAS to go with gramma.    Logan draws short straw and off we go.    First of all, the man at the house insists, vehemently that it won’t fit.  I calmly tell him it will.  He gets out a tape measure and begins to measure.    I...

Working In, Not On

Image
It was time.  Time to take a break  and resume normal life. Whatever that is!   I needed to get back to painting things for the shop.     And a friend found me all this and more  at yard sales on Saturday!      Look what a difference a few decoration make!      And... I know, I know.  It is time to take a break,  but I have a couple bedrooms to "do"  before late summer.  Ran across this photo on Pinterest. Can't wait to get started!

59 Trips Around The Sun

Image
Sometimes the best days are not epic!  They are ordinary days.  Magical, ordinary days. Days spent doing exactly what you like to do even if no one else understands!  I had one of those yesterday.    Lots of little projects and  not allowing myself  to see  "what really needs done"  and letting it spoil the day!    I spray painted this chandelier.  Ready to hang today... more on that in another post.    Sprayed this mirror and finished cleaning and decorating the hallway.      Almost have the kitchen finished.  Logan visited me to show me his  hunting attire for  turkey hunting today.     Dinner napkin valance on the front door. I scrubbed the front porch at the camp,  tidied, spruced, decorated, and it is ready for Jenn's party tonight, almost... JWS cooked that awesome meal above and  ...

Progress and More Great Finds

Image
If you haven't been to a  Habitat for Humanity  ReStore, you don't know what you are missing!  JWS was not totally impressed.  He had the same look and  comments  that my girls have had over the years. It goes like this: We pull into this place,  some out of the way.  They have heard my chatter about this place for the last 20 - 40 - 150 miles or so.  And they look at me,  shake their heads, and say,  "The places you drag us to..." That's why Time Works has been great  therapy well actually, it may have created  a  group of  Junk Junkies!  Friends nonetheless. or  Co-Conspirators or  Partners in Crime... But they get it... the need to dig through stuff for that FIND!  Some of mine this week have been the chair above and the picture above it.  Chair $30 Picture $5   And these lamps!   Perfect for $...

One Week

Image
Actually is was less than a week,  when I took leave of my senses,  got tons of visions of having a studio and  perhaps somewhere along the line my mind forgot my age and  sent me on a tailspin that made every  place in my body hurt.  A place to work all my own. A place where you can break  all decorating rules, and perhaps a few CLEANING rules,  it is well worth the pain!    Check out this throwaway cupboard.  The first pic is the color I am headed for, but the red needs touched up first.      This will be my paint table for the time being.  I love the big window and  all the light!  Still tweaking the living room. That couch is just not comfortable so I am trying just pillows on the back instead of the cushions.  I think it is helping.   Now to cover the pillows.  This workspace is going to be prepping and fi...

Moving right along

Image
Camp Two Doors Down  is  moving right along.  I am not sure that this old body is keeping up though. Every part of my body is screaming!  It is screaming, "You idiot, do you think you are 30 again?" One more room to finish painting...for now and  then some scrubbing and decorating and  the big move of all my paints!  and brushes and supplies and clutter. Well, lets be honest, borderline hoard.  When I opened the shed, I found this beauty!  It will be my basecoat and varnish station.  Can't wait to get it moved.    Found this mount in the upstairs bedroom, because really,  no camp in Pennsylvania is complete without deer antlers.      And this beauty is going to hang in the purple hallway. This is one of the first, if maybe not the first quilt that my mother made.  It was on my bed more than a few years ago,...

Winter Projects

Image
Lots of winter projects in my world!  A nice, easy winter with time to rest and  create! How could you ask for more?      An amazing weekend spent  with these creative ladies, quilting, sewing, laughing, and of course,  eating!  And... still persevering on this afghan!  Setting deadlines to get it done and missing them!

Embracing January

Image
Not a huge cold weather fan,  I am however, Embracing January.  After the chaos of the holidays, running and working and  not much rest,  January is starting to be a favorite month! A nice evening painting class Some time for creativity.      Another new workspace in progress.  And Wednesdays with this guy.  I tell him it is my favorite day of the week.  He translates that to, "It is your favorite day with me!" That works!

All is calm, until....

Image
The day started out pretty calm. Painted this tray and table for Jenn's porch. It was a purple kind of day.  Then Shawnee put together this lovely arrangement at Time Works for me. Even the butterflies liked it!  Then I painted some wine bottles, still sort of purple-ish. And even strayed from the purple  (actually the table WAS purple) and painted the kids picnic table. This was accompanied by a bit of sadness  knowing that by the time it needs painted again,  all the kids will be too big for it.  Then sat down on the porch for a little quiet time reading and crocheting,  not at the same time, mind you. When the final PURPLE arrived. Wyatt wanting in the Hot Pool,  as he calls it,  puked something Purply looking all through the  Hot Pool.  So that is why at 9:50 at night we are sitting outside  waiting for the  Hot Pool to refill and...
