Tolentreasures

Thursday, I booked our trip to Florida. It's been more than two years since JWS and I took a real vacation together. Let's just say, WE ARE EXCITED!!! Saturday, JWS bought these flip flops for himself. As a side note, He has NEVER worn flip-flops! No foreign object has ever  invaded the space between his toes, delicate feet that they are. So, last night we were going to a picnic. And I tell him to wear his new flip-flops. Good thing I added, better throw your sneakers in the car, just in case. One hour into the picnic, I see him hobbling to the car. I know it's bad, because he left his plate of food on the table. Life and death moment here! And today. The antibiotic has been as close at hand, as the remote and the newspaper. That's bad. Real bad. And he has whined... a lot. He is talking as though he is not going to work this week. He is considering this a major injury. and then he whines some mor...

Perusing Pinterest can suck up a lot of time. Anyone who has taken the plunge and joined can attest to that. However, that being said, it is a great place for inspiration. Had something like this in my mind, for all those sample books of fabric that my Mom's friend sends to me. So, above was the prototype and... of course, I had to get a little carried away. My girls would say, "Another manic moment, Mom?" I call it Stash Busting. And, these were from last week. Turning some samples, ideas, and plain,  just stuff laying around, into barrettes. That's it, folks. I am still recovering from the weekend of little boys. I think that they wore me out!

One well worn pair of jeans, (well actually I split the butt out of them, but we aren't going there) Eight thrift shop zippers, leftover fabric from baby shower favors, two mornings sitting in the sewing room before going to work. And this is what you have. Lined with co-ordinating fabric. Fun project! These cute little items are from my friend Lesley at Harmony Road Studio I had asked her about the sheep that are pictured below for a friend of mine that likes sheep. She not only sent all the sheep she had... but these cute little additions to the package. She is so creative. And here are the sheep. There is a little wrinkle to the story. You will have to wait until we iron it out to hear more about it. Aren't these adorable?  I love them!

Ok, I meant to do this earlier. A couple of more finished projects from yesterday. A spring towel. And two more balls for the boys room. But this is what held me up. A little unseasonal, but real easy and fun to do. Watch for the tutorial tomorrow... or tonight maybe. I was warned to be at work on time. Really?  I have been going a little later. but, the last three nights, I have been there late. Doesn't that count? And as I am typing this, my phone is beeping. What could they possibly want?  It's tough living with your co-worker/husband/thinks he's the boss person! 

Photos from the weekend!  It was a great time, time with my Dad, so many old memories, made some new friends, and made some new memories. Part of our work crew. This was Sunday at noon, we were all getting a little tired! Photos of the Blue Streak. Saturday night we rode it. I even got my 79 year old father to ride it! New parts and old parts. So great to see it being restored. We did a lot of leaf raking.. most of it in the rain and cold! Love this sentiment! And I even managed to get some projects done for the open house. Not much to do in a hotel room when you wake up at five in the morning... So I crafted! Almost done with the 40 or so of these that I cut out! Some stockings and mittens. And these pinwheels.  I can't remember where I got this pattern. I would love to give the person credit. If anyone knows, let me know and I will post the link. They are pretty quick and easy to make. Oh, the things that I could do. Would I procrastinate and not do anything as I have heard so many people say that are staying home? I don't think so but I really don't know. All I know now is that when I get a few hours off in the afternoons as I did this week, I accomplished so much at home. Well to tell the truth, the house is not really clean, but I love making these dishcloths. I learned how when I was in the Dominican and now I am hooked on making them, I guess that I'll put the hats and scarves aside for a little while and make these. Luckily there was a huge spool of the cotton yarn in my aunt's stash that I received. They will all be the off-white color but I also learned that to make them stronger you can add crochet cotton to them. I tried that on one but kept dropping the cotton.
