Waiting for the slowdown.

Image
Waiting on the January slowdown and it’s not happening.  I know the time,  less shop traffic,  home in the evenings,  slower days to recuperate from the holiday rush. Where is it? Every evening, I drop into my chair, throw a few stitches in this and promptly pass out.  Everywhere I look, something needs my attention and  I don’t know what to tackle first!  Ever have a time like this in your life?l

Totally Random Weekend

Image
I did get a little painting done. But... The week, although short, was crazy! All these boxes of shirts printed, way over 1000, and all the other work that goes along with that. Logan found a great little corner to enjoy his Teddy Grahams. And this pic, while it was not from last week, I just had it sent to me. Don't they look like they are having fun? This little gator was one of the BEST purchases ever! All the kids love it!  So Friday afternoon, after JWS delivers and runs and drives everywhere to deliver shirts. He goes to the hospital to visit his mom. Comes home at 4:45,  fixes supper,  changes his clothes,  relaxes in the recliner and his mom calls from the hospital  and they are sending her home.  6:00. So much for that rest.  He gets her home at 8:00 because the hospital is not just around the corner.  and we have to have her back there at 9:00 Saturday morning for dialysis  again.  And so begins the weekend,...

The Fire Has Gone Cold

Image
For those of you that have not been following the continuing saga of the fireplace. Check HERE for the background on some of the drama. Or HERE I really thought that the worst of it was over. The fire would be out soon. I could clean the living room. The rest of the house. The front porch. Get a new rug. Oh, the gas bills were low. But. The rug was ruined. $$$$ Chiropractor bills from back issues that I blamed on unloading firewood. $$$$ Initial cost of woodburner. $$$$ Continual vacuuming %$&* All ok, because the gas bills were really LOW. However, lately there has been the issue of the smoke. Lots and lots and lots of smoke. Not up the chimney smoke... in your face, choking you out of your recliner at night, SMOKE! I thought that something was wrong. JWS just kept jamming more wood in there. What do I know? Finally, on Wednesday... I slide him this little post-it note with the name of a chimney sweep on it. Talking to Shelby on Wednesday night, we laugh about Dick Van Dyke/Mar...

Fleur de Lis

Image
When we were in New Orleans a couple of years ago, I loved these! Of course they were everywhere.  For a quick, interesting read on them check out this site. Fleur DE Lis History and Facts I am not sure if they will sell locally, but once they are varnished, (and you can't see that sealer that shows up now) they will be listed on my selling blog. And speaking of my selling blog, go over there to the right and sign up for the giveaway that I am offering for a nice warm cowl.  Not many are signed up so the chances of winning are good. and if I happen to make it to 50 sign-ups, I will add another cowl. I have quite a few of them made so you will get your choice of colors if you should  be the winner or I am going to go out on a limb here... because  not many have signed up. If you win... You can choose what color of cowl you would like and I will run right out to the yarn store and buy some yarn and make you one in the colors you specify. How's that for personal...

Two posts in a day?

Image
You betcha! With a week like this, you have to post it while you still remember it! So the week begins. After not being in the shop for three days the week before there are the usual emails, phone calls, messages, etc. Monday Me: Work, calls, artwork, customers, etc. John: Frozen water pipes at his mom's and plowing. (Not gonna change places with him.) Supper at the restaurant...we have no groceries. I tell John, no matter what happens this week, I don't care if you work at the shop or not, just so I have Saturday off. Tuesday Me: Work, calls, customers, billing, paperwork, etc. Babysit Kendall at work. Take Kendall back, get groceries. John: Takes his mom to dialysis, haircut, gets his glasses fixed, etc. I don't care if I have to work alone, just so I have Saturday off. Wednesday Me: Work, phone calls, customers, fair messages, paperwork, etc. John: Not sure, but he was in the garage for awhile working on screens. It's ok if I work alone all week, just don't a...

This and that...

In the pioneering mode that I am in right now, this coffee pot fits right in. Well, I did make biscuits the other night for a snack while John brought in the firewood. Granted, the firewood is purchased already cut and split and stacked by the front porch and the biscuits were from a can in the fridge, but still we are going to call this modern pioneering. This sudden interest in pioneering and the Wild West has been brought on by this little guy. Wyatt is now two months old. You might remember his arrival and first few weeks. If not, check here. When the pediatrician first looked at him in those first few hours, he and Travis had this entire conversation about Wyatt Earp. I knew nothing of what they were talking about, but I knew that it seemed to ease Travis' tension. The conversation did not leave my mind and I have been trying to learn more about Wyatt Earp. We have bought Tombstone and watched it. I caught part of the Kevin Costner (any movie with Kevin Cos...

Another exhausting week!

Image
Work on this, picnic tables finished, (sorry, forgot the camera for those) work around our house. Some of this. Surgery for Shelby, Lots of work preparing for the fair, A little bit of Saturday donation work. OK, the NO PARKING needs taken off and changed.  We are going to let them to that part.  This was our Saturday project. Very little of this and this... And now for next week, THIS! The trim on the garage needs sanded and painted.  I knew that I would not even start it until I had the paint sitting right here.  Hopefully the rain cooperates this week so that I can get it sanded and painted. Funny story of the week: Entitled.. How I Flushed Dora. Thursday found me with Kendall and Gracelyn.  Shelby was still healing from wisdom teeth removal and Shawnee was off to the Buffet concert.  I finally got both girls down for a nap and decided to put a coat of crackle paint on the bench that I was working on, set the timer for 20 minutes to add the paint and ...
