Owls and a Rare Cooking Success

Image
Not entirely my own idea, these were adapted from this website. http://moonstitches.typepad.com/moonstitches/2007/11/zakka-style-owl.html I changed a few things to make them a little different. These were the first, I have some different thoughts for the next batch. Put wings on some, feather scallops on the belly, add some burlap... oh, the possibilities. \   Success! And another success. Those of you who follow this craziness on Facebook, will know the condition of the Easter Eggs and the unsuccessful Bunny Rolls. Those of you who don't follow on Facebook, well, I will just leave all that to your imagination. I CAN cook, just don't really LOVE to cook.  My cooking "process" seems to provide people with entertainment. So much that some people think that I need my own cooking show. I might be a little clumsy in the kitchen... anyhow, Artistic Cooking totally escapes me. A beautiful ...

Happy Spring!

Image
Well, not quite, but I did get this finished and am going to once again make a stab at offering items on my selling blog. Bear with me, I never really fully mastered what to do over there! Come on over and visit! Tolentreasures Depot New offerings daily? Yeah, right!

Forget that Stupid Phil

Image
Punxsutawney Phil, that is... when this is what we see on the way to church, I know that spring is right around the corner. Maple Syrup time! In Amish Country. A little farther on there were some not so modern Amish using the old buckets with lids. But, high heels and mud and some fencing kept me from getting close enough to get those pics. So while there is no green in the picture, those bright shiny silver bags always let me know spring in on the way! So in honor of that. I am working on this bunny! Still some work to be done I just laid the wood pieces on it for a pic. And this little sheep cabinet for my daughter. And some little recipe clips. Yesterday afternoon was so nice, so my morning walking friend and I decided to go on an afternoon daylight walk, that almost turned into a night time walk when we ventured out a little too far. I was really wishing that I had my camera. Pretty water flowing down over the hills in mini waterfalls, Deer in the meadow across a creek, Mos...

More giveaway items and ANOTHER bunny.

Image
Just can't quit painting these bunnies. This one will be added to my selling blog.  The door is not as large as some of the ones that I paint so the shipping would not be as high. It is not often that you will see baked items on my blog. The kitchen is not my favorite place to be. These were so easy though.  The recipe was on Hungry Girl on one of the cooking channels, but I have been told it is a Weight Watcher's recipe also. A chocolate cake mix and a can of pumpkin...I added the slivered almonds. So easy, low fat and low calorie. What a treat!   And these items will be added to the giveaway. Over 50 comments! To sign up, click on this picture.. or the link on my sidebar. The drawing will be on Saturday. Just a quick glimpse of yesterday morning. Mondays, should they start like this? High winds, Tree down on the neighbor's shed. We think it was a mini tornado... Off to work, Measure a tractor trailer for decals, Deliver 500 hats in my little vehicle, Artwork for...

Let's play a game...

Image
called, Help Grandma Put Away the Christmas Decorations! OK, so I am a little late and it isn't Hide and Go Seek, or a fun game like that. The boys arrived at the shop yesterday at 1:00. Jenn had a doctor's appointment. They were hyped. Really hyped, Like Someone Just Had a Smartie Eating Contest Hyped. It was a MONDAY! Phone lines were a problem, It was windy and we live in the sticks. Enough Said. John was trying to call in orders, call customers, wait on customers, book a music act for the fair, work. He says, "Do you want the afternoon off?" I say, "Of course!' and reach for MY coat. He grabs my arm and hisses, "YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN....TAKE THESE BOYS AND GO HOME!" (In man talk, that is an afternoon off?) C'mon boys we are going to go to grandma's and play a little game called, Let's Take the Christmas Decorations to the Attic! (I know, I missed the whole, Decorate for Valentine's Day thing) Not everything was still up, but the...

Steps to a moon & Saturday's projects

Image
Still working on the growth charts, I tackled the moons on them this morning. Base it in in Gray. Sketch in the details. Highlight with White. Shade with darker Gray and add some drybrushed Blue. Finish details, drybrush with metallic Silver and speckle with Silver. Tops finished which is great because I had to prop them and work as a contortionist to paint them. These are for in my Christmas cards for church next year. They are going to be refrigerator magnets. I would like to give credit to the artist, but have no idea who the designer was. I was given the line drawing from a friend, thanks Marie! Now for the next 30 or so of them. Good thing I have started early. And these apples. I started painting these trees for people some twenty odd years ago and I still get calls for more apples to keep the trees updated. And some ornaments going into the inventory for the Fall Open House. And actually it did snow here today! Did I cause that? And more items. The tavern bo...
