Tolentreasures

Ok, I debated posting these, I could have just said, "Project Number Seven is done" and acted like it was a Christmas present that I could not show yet. I could have just not counted them, But really, they are not something that I like to paint... so getting them off the list was a huge accomplishment and I wanted to celebrate it! One time I was asked, "What is the strangest thing that you ever painted on?" and my answer was this. However, I did not think that I would ever have to do another one. Much less two of them. However, the first one is displayed in my daughter and son-in-law's home. And One of their friends saw it and wanted two done. They called. I was busy at work. JWS asked if I wanted to do them, Hand over the receiver. I hemmed and hawed. And finally shot off a price that I thought was worth it to do them. And they said that they would think about it. Whew! And then.... They were dropped off at the shop. and then... They sat on t...

Happily sitting over a humming sewing machine, finishing up some gift bags that I found started in a stash, (thanks, Kim) I was rudely dragged away grabbing projects as I left.  You see, with the cold snap, the Heat Nazi, otherwise know as JWS, has decided that until it warms up, I am not allowed to sew.  His words, "You have enough other places to craft in this house, you are out of here until it warms up...we are not heating this room!' The nerve! I guess I will paint. No idea what to do with the white cupboard doors in the  new stash, and even more puzzling was the beadboard ones, I tried this.  And a mailbox bank for a customer.   And...I guess I can still knit until it warms up. Although, I have to fix a bowling glove thing for my son-in-law this morning, Where is my winter coat? Can I really sew with mittens on?

Everything but the milk can was an order that needed to be finished.  The wheelbarrows were leftovers from VBS that somehow ended up in my possession to paint and the boxes needed a quick little spruce up for a shop in Smicksburg.  Still painting away, trying to get ready for our Open House that is three months from today. 

You see, it was raining, and I am not talking a mild summer rain, I am talking monsoon rains.  You know, the sound like a freight train and you are looking around for the funnel cloud rain.  The rain that manages to come down our chimney, wetting the carpet in the living room and dripping through to the basement and splatter all over the varnished items on the top of the freezer rain.  Get the picture?  So I call dear hubby down to look at the splattered items sitting on top of the freezer otherwise doubling as a varnishing counter and show him the water issue.  Apparently, all the other times that this has happened I have just TOLD him about the issue and he has not heard me TELL him about it.   In defense of the poor guy, he does not venture into my area very often for fear of his life, however this time he SAW the problem and starts to insist that the problem is with the window behind the freezer.  I tell him repeatedly that it is the chimney a...

And this just popped into my head for the canteen, sort of woodsy, don't you think? And this is one of the ten or so items that I antiqued today.  What a mess that makes of my hands and of course, I could not find any gloves. Fabrics I found the other day for the I Spy quilt!

Where did it go? It is Little League Season. We have a screenprinting and embroidery business and there are three seasons that we know we are going to be extremely busy. They are Little League season, the two weeks before our local fair, Dayton Fair Season and of course, Christmas. Little League Season is in full force and with John, the ever present voice of reason and customer relations expert, gone two to three days a week now, it has added to my job description at work. So far, so good, I am keeping my head above water. I am really enjoying whatever painting time that I am getting. I had three of these in the stash, one already painted and finished this one this week. Anyone know what they are? I do, just testing. Still working on the growth charts, I tackled the moons on them this morning. Base it in in Gray. Sketch in the details. Highlight with White. Shade with darker Gray and add some drybrushed Blue. Finish details, drybrush with metallic Silver and speckle with Silver. Tops finished which is great because I had to prop them and work as a contortionist to paint them. These are for in my Christmas cards for church next year. They are going to be refrigerator magnets. I would like to give credit to the artist, but have no idea who the designer was. I was given the line drawing from a friend, thanks Marie! Now for the next 30 or so of them. Good thing I have started early. And these apples. I started painting these trees for people some twenty odd years ago and I still get calls for more apples to keep the trees updated.
