Yard Sale/Thrift Shop/Dollar General/Whatever I found in my Stash Bedroom

Image
The bedroom was bugging me, and I was getting company.  Mom and Dad  and  Amber, my neice.  TWO bedrooms were needed.  What to do... Search the stash!  So,  the "headboard" was found in the garage.  One of my cupboard door benefactors  had insisted that I take it.  I whined that I didn't want it,  I had no use for it.  However,  I was told if I didn't take it,  I could not have the rest.  So, it has sat,  in the garage  for a lot of years.  The nightstands were a $5 each yard sale find.  Chalk Paint it all and  add the little shelf on top, complements of JWS and it was good to go.  The frame  and  cute little wallhangings, yard sales.  The quilt,  a long ago pass on from a friend.  The shelf unit,  yard sale find. Bentwood, caned rocker, another long ago ...

The Continuing Saga of the Air Conditioner

Image
But first, a yard sale find from Saturday.   Goes perfect in the kid's bathroom! And even has a friend to keep her company! And another camper decoration, And... some doll house finds on the sale racks at Michaels.   Now... the air conditioner.   JWS hates it hot. I love windows open, fans running, fresh air. It has been a ten year battle.   I am willing to compromise, however, we have had for the last eight years or so, a screaming, decibel level of a 2 feet from a weed eater, drive you crazy, air conditioner in the window about 10 feet from my head. It's enough to make you do bodily harm to the person that put it there and refuses to even trade sides of the bed with you... you know who you are. I tried everything. Ear plugs, Ipod, over the counter sleep medicine, alcohol, even some mild narcotics... to no avail.   Last summer, I just moved out. I mean "out" ...

Bats, Green Apples and the Teeter Totter Saga

Image
Those of you who stop here regularly know that I walk in the morning. Early, Very early. Normally we leave a 5:30 AM. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, which could be only explained in an anonymous blog, we had to leave earlier. My friend Dawn and I go together, We talk, and laugh, and although I have not lost any weight, we justify this social time as exercise. Due to the earlier departure and the shortening of the days, Yesterday we encountered BATS again. You see, we dealt with them earlier in the spring, but with the longer days, it was light and we haven't seen them for a few months. Now, this is not a city walk. This is a great nature walk. We see rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, groundhogs, an occasional raccoon cows, goats, geese, ducks and a turkey, (those are all in a fence together) and lots of deer. We are even prepared to see a bear some morning. Haven't seen one yet, but we are prepared. But is was the green apple that did us in. Early in the walk yesterday, we ...

Concert, Yard Sales and a Pop-Up Camper Contest

Image
What a great start to the weekend! JWS and I attended a concert with some friends on Friday night at a local fair. The Clarks are a western Pennsylvania band that will be playing at our fair this year. If you have not heard of them, check them out HERE! It was a great show and a great evening with friends. Saturday AM we were up and on our way to some yard sales and then headed to a radio show contest for a pop-up camper. Thirty miles or so into the trip, we realized that we did not have the paperwork for the contest and had to go home to get it. A little wrinkle in the plans, but a nice ride anyway. I found the game pieces shown above. And this cooler and vase. A nice old suitcase. Dad found these spools for me. A friend sent these home with Jenn for me to paint. They took a little while to appear at my house. They were in her car. Go back about two posts to read about her car and that will make sense! Another painted project.  I'll add greens and filler stuff closer to the ...

Artichokes and Walmart Chicken

I am going to start with the disclaimer that I know that my car is a disaster. There is still stuff in it from VBS. It is like a treasure hunt in my tailgate. Maybe this week, I'll get it cleaned out. OK, So now that I have cleared that up. Jenn's car is so much worse than mine. When she pulls in and opens the door, you never know what is going to fall out.  You have the empty juice containers, an occasional french fry, and any ball ranging from golf to beach. Get the picture?  When she loses something, I always ask if she checked her car. Yesterday morning I rode to church with Dianna. Her car is clean, really really REALLY clean. I rode home with Jenn. I had to move the usual stuff to get in the passenger seat. Her purse, understandable. A notebook, three weeks worth of Children's church papers and crafts, a can of Copenhagen, a golf putter, an empty can of Mountain Dew, and a produce bag filled with artichokes! Then I turned around. I thought I would try to name everythi...
