Summer's Warriors

Image
They are the last... the last warriors to hang on. Clinging to that last little bit of sunshine, that last bright day. Almost drowned in fall's leaves, they persevere, giving us that last little bit of bright color, surviving freezing nights cuddled up to our home's warmth and  shielded from the frost  by Fall's debris.  They will soon be gone, blanketed in the beauty of winter,  sleeping, regenerating, waiting, for  Spring. I am going to miss them!

You know it is Spring...

...when the golfers come back! And back they are.  Look at the form! Look at that swing... Cover your head!  Check your homeowner's policy  for glass breakage!

Slow, but Sure

Spring, it's taking it's time, but, it is coming!     I am hanging on to any green I see, and counting robins!

Spring has Spring

Image
This bush has never bloomed before this year.  I planted it about three years ago and finally... there are flowers! Tons of them! And so pretty. Under the watchful eye of Arnold the cement pig, the daffodils bloomed this morning. And apparently, Arnold was not quite doing his job. Tyler and Logan, in their zeal of seeing flowers already, have smelled and touched the crocuses to death. All except for the hearty little survivor. Apparently, they seem to like the purple ones better. They are quite wilted, but all for a good cause. Logan is up to 62 robins as of yesterday. Grandma Shirley - 29. Happy Spring!

Counting Robins

Image
Those of you that know me, will be surprised to see bird pictures on my blog. I am not a huge bird lover. They really scare me. Well, to clarify, not outside, just inside. For instance, I can barely stand to be in Lowe's when they are swooping around. Every now and then we get one in the shop. I leave. When it is gone, I come back. But, in the spring, my Mom counts robins. Her theory, when she gets to 100, spring will be here. My kids would always count robins with her in the spring. and now Logan is counting robins. Every day, he calls Grandma Shirley to tell her how many he has. He is beating her. Yesterday's count? Logan - 27 Robins Grandma Shirley - 12 Robins To be fair, Grandma Shirley lives in the city. Logan lives in the country and spends a lot of time looking for robins. I think he is going to win. He is ready. I am ready. I really want to not say these words again, "Quit swinging that golf club in my office!!!"

Who's Responsible?

Image
Sheila  from Seasons of the Heart. http://seasonsofthyheart.blogspot.com/ That is who is getting the blame for this latest obsession. Ok, Blogger will not allow me to add a link. Anyway, on with the story. Monday night, after a trying day at work, I came home to a lovely package from Sheila. This pastel berry vine that was perfect around my Easter hen and eggs. These lovely candle rings that I have an idea for, just haven't put them anywhere yet because of this little goodie.   This innocent little wool flower set off the tangent that I am blaming Sheila for 100%. You see, she told me that she thought I could do something like this for my open house. So, I tried this. Made out of inexpensive felt. And then, moved on to these... And then went crazy! These are so fun to make and so fast! The best part? They use up some of the thicker wool that doesn't work real well for penny rugs. The other good part? So far, no hives! And now for the bad part. I have sheets in the washe...

Happy Spring!

Well, not quite, but I did get this finished and am going to once again make a stab at offering items on my selling blog. Bear with me, I never really fully mastered what to do over there! Come on over and visit! Tolentreasures Depot New offerings daily? Yeah, right!

Forget that Stupid Phil

Image
Punxsutawney Phil, that is... when this is what we see on the way to church, I know that spring is right around the corner. Maple Syrup time! In Amish Country. A little farther on there were some not so modern Amish using the old buckets with lids. But, high heels and mud and some fencing kept me from getting close enough to get those pics. So while there is no green in the picture, those bright shiny silver bags always let me know spring in on the way! So in honor of that. I am working on this bunny! Still some work to be done I just laid the wood pieces on it for a pic. And this little sheep cabinet for my daughter. And some little recipe clips. Yesterday afternoon was so nice, so my morning walking friend and I decided to go on an afternoon daylight walk, that almost turned into a night time walk when we ventured out a little too far. I was really wishing that I had my camera. Pretty water flowing down over the hills in mini waterfalls, Deer in the meadow across a creek, Mos...
