Kids, Coffee, Paintbrushes, NORMAL!

After flight delays and way too many hours in airports yesterday, we arrived home after 11:00 PM.    What a long day!   Delta would not be my airline of choice, there are always so many delays which make for tight or missed connections and running through airports, however, the price is right so I guess you just have to have a "get what you pay for" mentality.   New Orleans was fun. I have been waiting and waiting to go back. Our first trip there was a few years ago and I loved it! This trip was somewhat ill-timed. A big college football weekend, that resulted in tons of college students that somewhat adapted a mob mentality and seemed to push a lot of the tourists to pizza in their rooms. We were told by several shop and restaurant owners that most places "close for renovations" for this weekend to avoid the problems. How sad!   But, we did find places that the college s...

Last Friday, Next Friday

Image
Last Friday was spent at Conneaut Lake Park. One of my favorite places to be.. I went there when I was young. I took my girls there and now my grandchildren. The park has struggled over the years, but they are persevering and coming back. It was so nice to see a nice crowd a clean midway, and ride attendants that went above and beyond to make sure that all the families had a great day! Four generations spent the day there Mom and Dad, Me Shelby Gracelyn, Kendall and Garren. There was something for everyone! Such a relaxing day! And next Friday, I start this. A painting class in Virginia at the Pampered Palette. I can't wait. It has been a long time since I have taken a seminar. Three days of painting, no phone, no stress, no demands. What a break! I have always loved this painting. This well worn book sits on my coffee table all the time. I even bought this piece a few y...

Conneaut Lake Park

Another weekend of clean-up and repair. This is the midway, deserted now, but cleaned up and almost ready for the season. Sixty or so volunteers from all over the area, all with a love of the park, and a desire to see it thrive, showed up this weekend to clean, scrub, rake, paint, and fix what could be done on a cold and rainy weekend. I spent most of my time here with my crew. We arranged and scrubbed tables, and then painted them. Don't you just want to take a picnic lunch there and spend the day at the park? I know I will be this summer! Dad and I stayed at the Hotel Conneaut. This is a picture from last year. And while I don't believe all the ghost stories, when they offered the ghost tour, I went along in order to see more of the hotel. The ballroom is beautiful, with amazing views of the lake. If you haven't been there in awhile, it is worth the trip. The park is trying to stay open. ...

Snippets from the Weekend

Photos from the weekend!  It was a great time, time with my Dad, so many old memories, made some new friends, and made some new memories. Part of our work crew. This was Sunday at noon, we were all getting a little tired! Photos of the Blue Streak. Saturday night we rode it. I even got my 79 year old father to ride it! New parts and old parts. So great to see it being restored. We did a lot of leaf raking.. most of it in the rain and cold! Love this sentiment! And I even managed to get some projects done for the open house. Not much to do in a hotel room when you wake up at five in the morning... So I crafted! Almost done with the 40 or so of these that I cut out! Some stockings and mittens. And these pinwheels.  I can't remember where I got this pattern. I would love to give the person credit. If anyone knows, let me know and I will post the link. They are pretty quick and easy to make. And finally finished the pumpkin pillow.  I know it has a price ta...

Four generations at Conneaut

Image
Conneaut Lake Park is near Meadville, Pa. The park has had it's problems over the last few years, but is open again this year. It does not look like it used to and is not in the greatest condition but they are trying. This place holds so many memories for me, of going there when I was little, of taking my girls and friends when they were little and now a day spent there with my granddaughter. The girls and I have been to many of the bigger parks over the years. Cedar Point was an almost yearly trip when I was a child, as well as Idlewild. Busch Gardens, Disney, and Universal were all trips that we made also, yet this park was always my favorite, small, old-fashioned and with a sense of history there. For all the park condition is a bit of a disappointment, the day spent with my daughter, granddaughter and my parents was not. It was the nicest, most relaxing day I have spent in a long time. A day at the spa could not have been better. Gracelyn loved the merry-go-round. We rode that...
