Where could my camera be?

Image
I am really trying hard not to obsess, but where could my camera be? It is always laying on the table by the computer. I took pics Saturday and downloaded them and haven't taken a pic since. It is ALWAYS right here! I have looked in my painting room, I have looked in my sewing room, I have looked everywhere "high" that I can think of, maybe someone put it up yesterday from Logan and Gracelyn . I have looked in the toys thinking that Logan and Gracelyn might have taken it. I have looked in all my cupboards thinking Shelby or Shawnee hid it from Logan and Gracelyn . Where could it be? Is it too early to call the girls? Of course it is, Shelby doesn't have school, I am sure she is getting some much needed sleep. Shawnee doesn't have Kendall today, I am sure she would not be happy if I called her, but where is my camera? So much for not obsessing. I have things finished that I want to take pictures of...oh well...deep breath....someone set it somewhere...b...

Winter pictures and textures!

Plowing, he whines, but I think that he enjoys it! Aren't these cute little hats on these? Sedum The plow did not go by until 6 this morning. Great textures! Waiting for warmer days. I think I am off to build a real one soon, the last call was Tyler "Gramma Cathy, do you want to come over and play in the snow with us, we can build a snowman?" How do you say "no"? And can't you just see a face here? No landscaping needed here. And one more of the road. This was the least amount that I found. Our group, that I was to be with, is heading home from the Dominican today. I think they might have an extended trip. I guess that there are worse things than being stuck where you can see palm trees and the Caribbean. Off to build a snowman!

Locker Hook

Another new project in the works. Did I really need that? These are a great way to use of scraps of fabric, old sheets, curtains, etc. It helps that my Mom gives me so many scraps! Cut strips of roughly 1 1/4" any length. Sew them together with a zig zag end to end. Until you have one big ball. I like to do them random. You can make patterns, but I like the scrappy look. You need locker hook canvas, regular latch hook rug canvas won't work as well, the holes are too big. You also need a locker hook and cotton yarn. And start hooking! These are so relaxing to do. I have made one large rug and it was a little more difficult. It got heavy and bulky to work on and my shoulders started to hurt, so now I am doing table runners. I may even throw in some coasters and who knows what else?

And they are done!

These quilts turned into one of my biggest projects in a long time. Step 1: Jenn looks up comforts online and tells me that the price. Step 2: Me: Let's just go buy fabric to match the room and I'll just make nice 5" squares and Mom and I will put them together in a day and we'll tie them and they will be nicer than anything you can buy and they'll match the room and they won't be any more money and I can even make you curtains. It will all be done in a week. (that was sometime when the weather was warm...can't tell you when) Step 3: Buy the fabric, hey I blogged that, maybe I can tell when I started them. Anyway the total for the fabric was a little more than they would have cost ready made, buy hey, these will be nicer and you will have curtains to match. Step 4: Maybe I'll make the center with something a little nicer than just blocks, what about their names? Step 5: Well, I've already put so much work into that, let's do something a lit...

If there is any humor?

It has been hard to find humor in the past few weeks, and I can usually find humor in anything. I am sure at the end of this situation, there will be humor in the retrospect, however I have this little vignette of hilarity to share about last Saturday. Disclaimer: Some of the names and places have been changed to protect the not so innocent, but mainly to prevent me from the lawsuits that could ensue. Last Friday, we were informed that my MIL, Marilyn (real name) was to be released from Allegheny General Hospital (also real name), Fredricka , the social worker (not real name) called us on Friday morning at 7 AM to let us know and to tell us that we needed to take her to a step down unit and that we had to find one that day if we wanted one. Fredricka dropped the ball in my opinion and I have a complaint lodged against her with the higher ups at AGH , although they are not returning my calls. Fredricka says that she was not able to contact us for three days, and through gritted teeth ...

Dishclothes, Puzzles, and a Book

What a difference a week makes. One week ago, I made a post at work before I left for the local hospital where my MIL had been admitted for dehydration. She had been sick for a week or so and after going to the doctor, they wanted to admit her, give her some fluids and send her home. She had been admitted the Friday previous and by Wednesday was doing no better. Wednesday evening she was worse and we made the decision to have her moved to a hospital in Pittsburgh. Very early Thursday morning, she was transferred to Allegheny General Hospital and that is where my husband and I have lived since then, holing up for the nights on waiting room chairs and love seats , showering in the handicapped shower early in the AM, and living on hospital cafeteria food. Our daughters have come to visit and brought clean clothes and more yarn. Knitting makes people pause and ask what you are making and allows you to hear, "My mom always made those" Grandma made those all the time,...

If you want to help.

http://www.heartsforthehungry.com/ I am glued to the TV and have no words for what I am seeing in Haiti right now. Having been there and having seen the conditions that the people live in, I cannot imagine how they will survive this catastrophe. They are going to desperately need help. I can personnally vouch for this organization, our pastor is on the board and all the money donated goes to feed Haitians. There are no paid board members, offices to maintain, etc. All of the money goes to food and the delivery of food. Please consider a donation. The need is so great!
