And it is finished...almost

Image
Still needs some varnishing and a hanger. See the kids names in the vines? There was so much that she wanted on this and I was having trouble envisioning where to place it all without having it get overwhelming. Besides the main writing there was a wedding date, the couples names, all the kids' names and butterflies. Hopefully she likes it, no time to spare on this one. I am off to make a Saturday list, plants that need in, a kitchen that needs cleaned, a craft to pack up for the church, rooms to vacuum, if I could just have one week at HOME! Who am I kidding, one day would help!

Stay and Play

After a particularly stressful week at work, last minute orders, lots of non-profit jobs, mistakes that cost us $$$, and two classes of sixth graders to print their own shirts, John thought a run would clear my head. He was right, it did, although is the hurting in my legs this morning worth it? Somewhere in the middle of all that, I remembered that I have a painting order for a shower this weekend. Why can't I get organized? This is the board that needs painted. I'll start it this morning and hopefully finish it this evening. Yellow, Purple and Butterflies, maybe that is why I am procrastinating. And tomorrow I am teaching these flowers at the church. I have twenty five of them cut. I really think that I have the hard work done. They get the fun part, melting the edges. I like that part! Now where are those tea lights? And this was Gracelyn yesterday morning when I told her that we had to get ready for work. "No Momma, stay here and play" I know ex...

Misadventures with urine.

Image
Monday evening and all I wanted to do was see the Pittsburgh News. There were two things that I wanted to see after a typical confusing Monday, I was headed home to see the news and have a quiet evening at home, then the call. Jenn was at work and Chris was being Mr. Mom and Logan had thrown the Whack a Mole game down the stairs and hit Tyler in the head and there was a lot of blood. You say, Blood not Urine? I'm getting to it. Jenn races home and silence. We hear nothing. Then the call. Tyler, in some form of retaliation I am sure, has thrown something at Logan and hit him in the eye. I leave and head to their house. At this point I actually forgot about what I wanted to see on the news. Logan is sitting in Chris' lap with a cold washcloth on his eye. I gather him up, cuddle him up and hold him. After we determine that it is not a hospital worthy injury, John heads to the drugstore for some non-recalled children's pain reliever. Somewhere in that confusion, t...

How I Spent my Mother's Day

Image
John and I both ran in the Race for the Cure in Pittsburgh today. What a great event! This was my first running 5k, having walked in one on Saturday. Not an impressive finish unless you take into account that I really didn't train for it. I walked/ran a total of less than eleven miles in preparation for the event and before last week, the most exercise I got was chasing grandchildren and knitting. My time was 40 minutes and 49 seconds, well down in the pack, but I did it. Now I will start training for the next one. Is this addictive or what? John finished in under 30 minutes, but for some reason his name will not come up on the website. Impressive finish for him.

300th post!

Who would have ever thought? Boy, do I talk a lot ! Nothing monumental to tell, to mark the occasion, just the same old blah, blah, blah that I normally do, read more by family and friends than anything. Thanks for reading, thanks for your comments (I love comments), thanks for giving me an ear to vent, to tell, to brag about my grandchildren, to show my "creations" and to air the day to day stories! A late birthday present from the Disney travelers. Shawnee stitched this pillow for me. I had seen this on a plaque somewhere and have always wanted it somewhere in my house. It will sit in my recliner. I love it! And for the weekend. No, this is not me, but here are my weekend plans. I will be walking my first 5K on Saturday. After John finished the half marathon on Sunday, we all thought is was over, the training, the talking, the PREACHING! Then he starts searching for the next run. I know he was, I know how to look at the history in the computer. Realizing that t...

Congratulations, What an Accomplishment!

First of all, Congratulations are in order for my husband. He completed the Pittsburgh Half Marathon over the weekend. Not a life-long runner, he started this training this winter after running several 5k races last year. With all the difficulties that we faced this winter, he persevered and continued his training in between the busy schedule of daily hospital visits to Pittsburgh for seven weeks and the new "normal" that our life has become of running to dialysis treatments and trying to balance our business along with the chaos that our lives already were before all this happened. It took a lot of work and determination and this medal is just a small token for him of the sense of accomplishment that he has. I am so proud of him! Unfortunately, I could not be there with him this weekend. I had made plans for spend the weekend with my Mom in Ohio for a quilt show and shop hop. The plans had been made, rooms booked before we realized that not only was it the same weeke...
