Let's play a game...

Image
called, Help Grandma Put Away the Christmas Decorations! OK, so I am a little late and it isn't Hide and Go Seek, or a fun game like that. The boys arrived at the shop yesterday at 1:00. Jenn had a doctor's appointment. They were hyped. Really hyped, Like Someone Just Had a Smartie Eating Contest Hyped. It was a MONDAY! Phone lines were a problem, It was windy and we live in the sticks. Enough Said. John was trying to call in orders, call customers, wait on customers, book a music act for the fair, work. He says, "Do you want the afternoon off?" I say, "Of course!' and reach for MY coat. He grabs my arm and hisses, "YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN....TAKE THESE BOYS AND GO HOME!" (In man talk, that is an afternoon off?) C'mon boys we are going to go to grandma's and play a little game called, Let's Take the Christmas Decorations to the Attic! (I know, I missed the whole, Decorate for Valentine's Day thing) Not everything was still up, but the...

Fleur de Lis

Image
When we were in New Orleans a couple of years ago, I loved these! Of course they were everywhere.  For a quick, interesting read on them check out this site. Fleur DE Lis History and Facts I am not sure if they will sell locally, but once they are varnished, (and you can't see that sealer that shows up now) they will be listed on my selling blog. And speaking of my selling blog, go over there to the right and sign up for the giveaway that I am offering for a nice warm cowl.  Not many are signed up so the chances of winning are good. and if I happen to make it to 50 sign-ups, I will add another cowl. I have quite a few of them made so you will get your choice of colors if you should  be the winner or I am going to go out on a limb here... because  not many have signed up. If you win... You can choose what color of cowl you would like and I will run right out to the yarn store and buy some yarn and make you one in the colors you specify. How's that for personal...

A Day with Kendall

Image
Once a week, I try to keep Kendall for the day. It doesn't work every week, but I try. They are not all like this. She is very active. Payback. She is her mother's daughter.  Sacked out on the couch, she does manage to nap.  She comes to work with me or I would nap with her. Some days I need it!  And Papa thought she needed this really big lollipop when she woke up. Where did he find that? and What else does he have hidden in his desk drawers? See that painting in the background? Tyler + Basketball = Clamps and Glue It quickly went bad. Shelby had teacher conferences last night so I took Kendall home and got her ready for bed. She was sound asleep by the time Shelby got home. If I could figure out how to load videos, you would see the action. Finally, ready for bed, I resorted to my phone. She loved the piano app!                          ...

Kicked out of my sewing room.

Image
Happily sitting over a humming sewing machine, finishing up some gift bags that I found started in a stash, (thanks, Kim) I was rudely dragged away grabbing projects as I left.  You see, with the cold snap, the Heat Nazi, otherwise know as JWS, has decided that until it warms up, I am not allowed to sew.  His words, "You have enough other places to craft in this house, you are out of here until it warms up...we are not heating this room!' The nerve! I guess I will paint. No idea what to do with the white cupboard doors in the  new stash, and even more puzzling was the beadboard ones, I tried this.  And a mailbox bank for a customer.   And...I guess I can still knit until it warms up. Although, I have to fix a bowling glove thing for my son-in-law this morning, Where is my winter coat? Can I really sew with mittens on?

Description of an Accident Post 2

Image
Way back a few years ago I had that title for another post. Description of an Accident It just so happened that Dianna had not told her husband of that incident. He read it on the blog. Oops! Not a good way to make mother in law points. I think all parties know about this one now so here is Gracelyn talking on the phone to me. And this is how she described the incident. "Mamaw, Mommy and me were coming to see you yesterday and Mommy drove Daddy's truck into the woods." "And when Papa came to help Daddy get his truck out of the woods,  his (Papa's) truck ran away from him" Of course I had to have Mommy get on the phone and explain that. Apparently her Papa got out of his truck the truck slid down the driveway without him. Out of the mouths of babes. And if you happened to read the first description of an accident.... I think that the three year old might just have a better description than the 28 year old. Sorry Di!

How much patience does this take?

Image
My mom kept telling me that my Dad was making really nice candleholders. He is always making something and I could not picture in my mind what she was describing. WOW! What a lot of work and patience is in these!  I managed to keep this one! It was my favorite.  And Mom made this table runner for me and brought it in also.  Gifts for me and not just the princess....woohoo! Guess I need to clean off the dining room table and display this lovely table runner. The dining room has become a catch all.  We look like old people. Wait. Maybe we ARE old people! Super Sunday today. We will have one of our friends here JWS is making a 23 pound turkey. Really?
