Treasures

Image
A found treasure in my MIL's garage. And while delivering today I ran into a new antique shop and found this little case. It jumped right off the shelf at me. Figuratively, not literally. No price tag, the owner of the shop said "Five Dollars." And I jumped then. And inside... more treasures. A miniature croquet set, how cute! And an old set of crayons. The newspaper inside the case was dated 1950. But the BEST treasure... is yet to come. Kendall is getting a baby brother or sister! Yes, that will be Treasure #7 in our lives! Doesn't Papa look happy? Don't let that look fool you. He is a nervous wreck when they are around! I, on the other hand.. can't wait!  I mean, after all, it has been over a year since we have had a new baby!

Happy Independance Day!

Image
And in the words of the book that the kids love... "And that is how Wacky Wednesday began." JWS decided amid peer pressure  to cook a turkey for Fourth of July instead of grilling. So... I made the stuffing. and homemade noodles (amid a five hour power outage yesterday). And if that wasn't wacky enough... this went by my kitchen window this morning. Tom of Tom and Jerry. Apparently our household is closer to Halloween and Thanksgiving than Independance Day. Tyler has figured out that if he keeps his body covered, he doesn't get hurt as bad when he falls. Apparently, his Halloween costume fit the bill perfect, even in the 100 degree weather. Camera shy Jerry also made an appearance, but you know how those mice are. I could not get the picture!  Hope everyone is having a great holiday! Mine will be better when Shelby and Kendall show up with the PUMPKIN PIES!!!!!

Finishing...and Boys

Image
Last week, I went on a tangent to finish some things. Ann at A Hole in the Basket challenged me to a race. She beat me on Day Two. But she was motivation. I finished this quilt top. A Great Stash Buster! And this painting that had been partially finished for weeks... Oh, Ok...months! And another sample for friends' guest room. I like the right side better. how about you? And a scarf that had been sitting about as long as the painting. And Boys... It is summer and Tyler and Logan are at work with us. Five and Six, they have been there daily for most of their lives. Wouldn't you think that they would know to stay away from the ink? Apparently, hot pink t-shirt ink just looked too inviting and just begged to have a golf ball dipped in it. T-shirt ink doesn't dry until 350 degrees, golf ball aside.. I don't think that you can put little boys in a 350 degree oven. or the bathroom sink or the walls or t...

That Favorite T-shirt

Image
C'mon, you know you have it. That favorite t-shirt that should have been long ago "retired". Actually, I have a few, but this was my favorite. You can't see it in the picture, but, when I put it on yesterday the armhole ripped out and sadly I knew our relationship was coming to an end. Long sleeve, roomy, soft, cozy, paint stained, long enough to cover my derriere, patterned enough to not wear a bra! At home, of course So, hoarder that I am, I could not give it up completely. I mean after all, I had been in the relationship with this t-shirt longer than I have been married to JWS. So, in the effort to maintain this relationship it became COASTERS!

Three more finished.

Image
The little pennants have been partially finished for over a week. Number three. Rug finished. Number 4. The big pennants. Number 5. Ann is way ahead of me on this challenge, however, I am really happy to have at least finished something or some things. This is what we call the Casnabberfort on our deck. Named by the carpenter that built it. The name stuck. After the untimely death of the camper, (more on that in another post) I decided to decorate this area with the collection of camper decorations that I had started. Getting mixed reviews. What do you think?

A Challenge & Two More Finished

Image
Ann at A Hole in the Basket issued a challenge to me to see which one of us could finish the most projects by Friday! Always up for some motivation.. I accepted!  If anyone else wants to join in just comment here and we will link your blog and sign you up. There might even be a prize! So that being said, the two pillows above are one and two. Of course, it would not be fair to have yesterday's finishes. A few more blocks on the stash buster. And if you saw yesterday's post, you might recognize the disaster rat's nest of fabric. All organized, that should speed things up. And a project in progress. A bath mat throw rug that I started awhile ago, got a few more rows this morning. So any takers? Let's see how many things you can finish this week.  Comment here or over on Ann's blog, and join in!

Finishing!

Image
Once again, I have something like 47 projects started, and nothing finished. So... it is time to finish some projects. Pillows above, I think I have 5 or 6 more of those started. And these flags... just started on Saturday, I had four more waiting to be done. This apron, I started a month or so ago. And this tangled up mess on my sewing table... is a stash busting project. My mom showed me one that she was making and I just had to START that also.  Really, just a block a day for let's just say two weeks should finish that up. Hope that everyone has a great week. Mine is wide open for the first time in weeks. I am loving it! Nothing like a blank calendar!
