Wandering

Image
The last few days could be described as wandering.   Wandering to work, wandering around the house, wandering through things that need done. Just wandering.   I find that I can't get interested in anything long term.   This is the only thing that held my interest through the last three weeks... and it is done.    Have you ever not wanted to finish a project?   I sure didn't want to finish this. I liked working on it.      Have to find something else now to keep my interest. I even tried organizing my knitting needles and crochet hooks. That took all of a half hour.   I have started a bunch of other projects.  Maybe I will finish one of those.    And now, for the funny story, Because you knew that there would be at least one.   My MIL would have laughed and laughed.   How I wish that I could tell her... to watch her laug...

She Gave It All

Image
I walked a mile with Pleasure; She chatted all the way; But left me none the wiser For all she had to say. I walked a mile with Sorrow, And ne'er a word said she; But, oh! The things I learned from her, When Sorrow walked with me. ROBERT BROWNING HAMILTON   Everything.   She gave everything.   Love Joy Laughter All her earthly resources   She gave it all away.   My Mother in Law Marilyn Strate   passed on to glory yesterday morning.   She is safe in the arms of Jesus and she is not suffering.   This is not about the last two months of her life when everything was hard for her.   This is about how one person could give so much.   Last night, we got out her papers.   She had nothing left.   Nothing?   Absolutely not!   She did what she was supposed to do. She gave it all ...

Career Counseling

Image
See this hat?  You wouldn't think that something as simple as a hat would warrant me to take a serious look at my choice of careers. Not that it is the first time, or will even be the last. Those who know me well have heard me in exasperation many time express my desire to work as a Walmart Greeter. "Hi, welcome to Walmart, cart or basket today? Hi you cute little thing, would you like a sticker? Oh you have a problem? See someone at the service desk" It's that last line that I like the best.  So here is how it went in as brief of phrases as I can manage. Starting in let's say October Order white hats, hats are backordered, hats finally arrive, pay for the hats...COD stitch hats, ship hats to customer, a couple of days later, white hats arrive again, pay for the hats COD again before I realize it was a double shipment, call the company to get a credit. wait, order hat shown ...

Yarn Bombing

Image
Sometimes I get a little manic. I fight it, but dangle something new in front of me (or a least new to me) and I am off on a tangent. I saw these on Facebook thanks to a wonderful creative friend, Pam at http://grammysalteredlife.blogspot.com/ Dear Pam, I put that there so that my children can track you down!   I had to try my own small version of it. For all of you that like the Amish, I had to include this pic with the horse and buggy. It started like this, with some stuff I already had... and just "grew" all over the living room floor. Jenn helped me install this much this morning, looking over her shoulder lest anyone she know should see her actually helping the crazy lady. But then, once installed, she stepped back and informed me that it needs to be BIGGER! Oh my, that should send me digging through the yarn stash again! One thing is for sure... This is the FIRST yarn b...

Old Men

Ok, it is the yarn story, that you are waiting breathlessly on. Let's start with Old Men. They are drawn to me. Have been all my life. I would think that I hold the world's record for listening to old men's stories. Location has no bearing on these stories. It's not as if I hang out in retirement homes. It can be at a mall, a convenience store, you name it. I am not proud, but sometimes I just don't make eye contact. and sometimes JWS warns me not to make eye contact. There are times that I am in a hurry... and I feel bad cutting off a story, so I avoid having to start one. Most of the time, however, I listen. I have heard stories from most of the wars and lots of widower stories. Health issues, old cars, antiques, lots of information. The yarn is the same. There is a nice man at dialysis. I like to talk to him. He makes things, and I like to hear artistic/craf...

Afghan Progression

It sat on the coffee table from two days after Christmas until New Year's Eve. Then it had to be packed up and put in a basket. I just couldn't stand the mess any longer.  Still working on it, just not allowing it to take over the house any longer. Finished this over the break, or at least all that it my part of it. It is a gift for a friend and another friend is going to quilt it. Another I Spy quilt! And some knitting.... a hat and scarf to keep some little one warm.  There is a story about this yarn... I will leave that for another day.  Back to work today.  Wish I was happier about that!   I sure love being at home!
