Kids Live Here

Image
You can tell by their artwork!    When my girls were little, we had a neighbor that pitched a minor fit if sidewalk chalk touched his sidewalk.   I never wanted to be that person. I think we can say that I achieved that goal in life! The little artists!     Below is the first room redo of the dollhouse! Just have to make a rug for under the table and find some accessories for the hutch.

The Continuing Saga of the Air Conditioner

Image
But first, a yard sale find from Saturday.   Goes perfect in the kid's bathroom! And even has a friend to keep her company! And another camper decoration, And... some doll house finds on the sale racks at Michaels.   Now... the air conditioner.   JWS hates it hot. I love windows open, fans running, fresh air. It has been a ten year battle.   I am willing to compromise, however, we have had for the last eight years or so, a screaming, decibel level of a 2 feet from a weed eater, drive you crazy, air conditioner in the window about 10 feet from my head. It's enough to make you do bodily harm to the person that put it there and refuses to even trade sides of the bed with you... you know who you are. I tried everything. Ear plugs, Ipod, over the counter sleep medicine, alcohol, even some mild narcotics... to no avail.   Last summer, I just moved out. I mean "out" ...

Was this "needed"?

Image
Absolutely not! But I couldn't resist.   At an auction, (from the looks of the hoard, there have been more than one too many of those lately) Inexpensive! Doesn't justify it.   But, how much are those little girls going to like it when it is done? For now, it is cleaned out and ready for decorating.   This is definitely BEFORE!   I am sure there will be photos of DURING and IN PROGRESS.   Let's just hope that we make it to AFTER!

Amber Inspired

Image
Do you get inspired when you visit other people's homes?       Nowhere has that ever been stronger for me than my sister's homes.   Anywhere she has lived and I have visited finds me coming home wanting to rip everything out of my house and starting over.   It's just that she has been given the "decorating" gene in my family.   She takes junk and makes it a statement. And... now too my niece.   Apparently, she passed those genetics on to her daughter. So.... this is the tip I tried at home. Recently, while cleaning out my MIL's garage... yes, I know that could have been done sooner..   we found this picture (see above) Cheap plastic frame... But wait! I remember what Amber did with that frame in her living room.. Inspiration!    And, this is what I have now!   Not the greatest picture, but ...

Sewing Baskets

Image
Sewing baskets are one of my favorite items to find at yard sales. They are usually inexpensive and fun for me to go through and sort out.   In the process of cleaning out my mother in law's house, four of them were handed to me.   Last night, I sorted. A fun vintage needle folder, love these! Could needles be packaged any more elegantly?   I have a few of these now... just trying to think of a way to display them.   More on that later.... I think I have an idea!   Hope that everyone has a great Saturday.   Here, we will try to stay dry!

Auction finds

Image
These Thursday night auctions are getting to be Way Too Fun!  Oh, the treasures I am finding! (Oh, the hoard I am starting adding to) How could you not buy this little beauty?   What is it?   A lovely serving dish!   Now, really, doesn't everyone NEED one of these in their home?

Guessing Game

Image
Remember playing those games at showers that they showed you the tray for minutes and you had to remember what was on it?   I bought a Styrofoam cooler full of all this stuff at the auction the other night. Sometimes, curiosity   just gets the best of me. Don't worry, the price was not high and there are possibilities there believe it or not.   Anyone else see any treasures?
