How Not To Paint A Door

Image
The Three Month Saga.. After deciding that the doors needed painted, and deciding they needed to be red,  I headed to the local hardware store, over three  months ago.  Red, picked the color from the chip and the nice man there said that he did not like to mix reds.  Okay. "What do you suggest I do then?"  I replied. "Pick another color" he countered, "Perhaps green?" "They are green now, I WANT them red." the exchanged continues and I squint to make sure he is not JWS' long lost brother.  He finally explains that reds turn out pink and people are not happy with them. and  I say, "I'll take my chances." but then just in case... "just give me a quart." And that was the end of May, and then it rained.  For at least 40 days and 40 nights.  And JWS liked that quart of red paint so much that he used it all up at the shop. Then I went back a...

Ten Good Reasons Not To Walk.

Image
Walking and exercise have been severely neglected this summer for me.  Who am I kidding?   So has  Yard Work Cleaning Flower Beds and More.  It's September, kids are back in school,  I am hopefully getting back in a routine. So this morning was to be the morning.... 1. I didn't sleep well. 2. It's hot. 3. It's muggy 4. I need to clean for the cleaning lady to come today. 5. I need to do something with the front door that is on sawhorses on the front porch. (more on that later) 6. I should do some laundry. 7. Porches need cleaned before company arrives this week. 8. I have no walking clothes that are not paint stained.  9. My walking shoes are wore out.  and  The Big One... 10.   I just wanted to sip coffee and doodle!   But I walked.  I still have the headache,  the front door is still on the front porch and not on the hinges, the flowers still...

One of THOSE Days

Image
It started with no coffee.  None.  Zip. So I jumped in my vehicle and headed to the shop and had to drive around a dead skunk at the end of my driveway.  I should have gone back to bed.  It did not get better.  Disappointed  in a friend's behavior that really hurt my feelings.  I should have thicker skin by this point in life, I guess.  But I am still counting my blessings,  time with some of my grandchildren... well spent.  Those little arms around your neck  a little boy laying in your arms in his blanket "color with me, Mamaw" are all the healing  a heart needs! And the ladies in the picture? A yard sale find for $1!  A pair just like that hung in our living room  throughout my entire childhood... I could not pass them up!

437 Reasons Why JWS Should Not Be Unsupervised At An Auction

Image
Laughing and chuckling at  10:30 last night,  JWS  arrives home from the auction where he was  serving food. Two indicators that it was about to go bad: 1. The truck is sitting at the side door and not in the garage. 2. The side door is propped open.  And He is excited about his finds.... As a side note,  I did not go to this auction because: 1.  I am still tired from the fair. 2. The cleaning lady was supposed to come today and I did not want a mess.  Apparently,  JWS did not get that memo.  So this morning found me  washing  and  sorting and  cleaning and  wiping.  Piles to be junked, piles to go back to the auction, piles of treasures for other people, a small pile to keep and  piles to be priced to go to the shop. He did get some good finds, But there was a lot of sorting to find them.  ...

Another Obsession, Zentangles

Image
Did I need it?  Absolutely not!  But I caught the bug.  I have been seeing Zentangles on all my regular haunts.  Facebook,  Pinterest, and Michaels.  And I wanted to try them.  Oh, I tried to hook my sister into it, thinking that would serve my need to see them and not have to get hooked on them myself.  But... she didn't bite.  So this weekend,  I caved and tried it with stuff I had around the house.  Paper,  Sharpies. How cheap of a  craft obsession ADDICTION is that? Well, we will see. I have a doctor's appointment today in close proximity to a Michaels and I may just have to slide in there and see what I might need! In the meantime, I have actually  found a corner of the living room to work.  For some reason,  JWS has not noticed yet that I took over another space in the house for crafting.  ...
