Rocky the Lobster

JWS, left alone at the auctions on Thursday nights has proved interesting. Clowns, neon signs, parrots.   So, I never know what he is going to bring home. Last night he made it home before me.   These books and vintage cards are great! The picnic baskets....re-sellable. The vases?   Maybe to the right person. Pyrex and Glasbake? Wonderful buys....   This shelf....10 feet long?   Really?   You might think that is the worst.     However..... After 12 hours at work.....when I turned the corner to go in the kitchen, This was serenading me with "Won't you let me take you on a Sea Cruise?"       I'd like to send someone on a sea cruise.... without a life jacket!

Every now and then it is interesting to see where blog visits come from.   I was really happy to see the link to make these bags come up on this page.   Great use of directions!   Hop over and take a look!   Maybe there is something that you want to make!       http://soldiersangels.org/Sewing-and-Crafting-Team.html     http://tolentreasures.blogspot.com/2010/04/walkerwheelchair-bag-tutorial.html

Serendipitous Moments

What a ride this has been! Setting up and opening a shop, a winter of paint classes, all more craziness than usual... if that is possible.   I have loved getting the shop ready, enjoyed the entire process and really like working there.    The vendors work most of the weekdays, mostly the weekends are tied up for me for the time being.     Yesterday, I was on my own.   Worked at that REAL job in the early morning and then off to Time Works.   Busy day, I took paints and brushes. Didn't really accomplish much there. My two last customers of the day came in.   Wandered around and then.... The one woman brings two yearbooks to the counter.   Her voice is shaky.   She has just found her father's yearbook!   Not just the 1946 yearbook that he was pictured in... His personal yearbook, with all the messages from his classmates!   Stories from the...

Covered Hanger Tutorial

These little dresses. Found at yard sales and in boxes of aprons are adorable. But how to display them.    On a really cold winter day, what better place to hole up than this sunny, cheery sewing room.   I really don't spend enough time here.   Decorative hangers.   I have been told that they don't sell without cute hangers.   So, I raid the four year old grandson's closet, a quick peruse of Pinterest for ideas and away I go. This could easily be adapted to adult hangers though. Find a piece of material to fit the hanger, doubled. I have this awesome stash of drapery and upholstery sample books! Cut the fabric about an inch bigger than the hanger. Might as well make more than one. Press under the bottom edge and hem. Add some type of decoration on the fronts. Speaking of stashes.  There happens to be an awesome stash of lace, trims and ric rac in my sewing room. Sew the...

Giddy Up

Another horse! For this little cutie! Eleanor won't be riding it for awhile, but before her mom and dad realize it, she will be wildly rocking away! And another one for an order, finished last minute before we left on vacation.   Along with a hare for my sister!

Classes, classes, CLASSES!

It started out so innocent.   My friend's daughter was getting married and they wanted to do a painting class.   We had this new back room at the shop.   I could teach that!    Bring them here!   And then... this, and this, and how about Gracelyn's birthday? and this, this, this, this, this, and... this and don't forget these, this again, and this...     is where it all started!     It has been so much fun!    Truly, I could do this for a living!

A Day at the Science Center

The boys love this place!  It has been two years since they were there. This time the weather was good enough that they could go to the submarine. I think that might have been a favorite! Along with Sports Works. And Papaw and Logan had to experience the hurricane.   And a surprise when Gracelyn and Garren were also there! And... with much trepidation I post this not so flattering angle! Just to show I BEAT THOSE BOYS UP THE ROCK WALL!
