Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We actually had our Thankgiving last night. It is a tradition that we started as a new, blended family that has worked really well. The kids and their families all come here on Wednesday night and that frees them up for the other parents and in-laws on the actual holiday. When they are all together and having fun it makes me very thankful that they all get along and that we are able to have holidays as a family. We had a great evening of eating and of course playing with the kids. Holidays are so much more fun with these little ones around. The only pic that I was able to get of the three of them was in the tub together. They just don't sit still long enough. This was the end of the night at Grammies and Tyler thought that they all needed a bath, needless to say we were all soaked and my bathroom floor is clean once again and I have a whole load of towels to wash.
I was hit with some cold and flu bug on Monday so I am way behind in my 30 day craft challenge. Hubby is leaving for camp in the morning so I have the whole weekend to catch up. Wonder if I can do it?
I hope that everyone has a great holiday today and that at some time during the day you take the time to Count Your Blessings!

Oh what a great tradition...I like that.
It's no different than families celebrating Christmas Eve the same way.
Our children are with their in-laws on Christmas Eve and then are here on Christmas day. Works out great.

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
