Camp Clean Up

Image
Camp is generally a disaster.  It's my workspace,  that's all that it was really ever meant to be.  Seriously,  I was going to rent a storage unit to work in  and  store furniture in  when this house became available. But, I am thinking it does me good  to have an event there every now and then.  Sort of like inviting company to your house so you will be forced to clean.  C'mon, you know you have done it. So, tonight I am hosting my  Fall Class Preview  Party  at my camp. And... I have cleaned.  Oh, not cleaned like in  my mother and sister's  "eat off the floor"  clean.  This is "It really is a studio"  clean.  Which in actuality is about how  clean my house always was prior to  the wizard woman that now  cleans my house  every other week.   Not sure what my thought process w...

5th Annual Open House

Image
The 5th Annual Open House is over! Another year in!  The house is back to normal. The remaining items are packed for another year. And all that is left... are the stacks for Christmas orders, and all the plans for next year! Thanks to everyone that helped to make it a success!

Price tags

I can't claim this as my own, I am pretty sure it came from Marie at Marie's Country Woodcrafts http://mariescountrywoodcrafts.blogspot.com/ Go check her out, she is a wonderful painter and has the greatest patterns to sell! Pricing and marking things drives me crazy. I would much rather be creating. But, here is a little tip. Print your tags on the computer, regular card stock works great. Leave a blank area on the bottom.  Cut them in strips, Take the thread out of your sewing machine... and sew along the top edge of the blank area. It makes a nice perforated edge on your tag for your price. If the person is buying your item for a gift, they can simply tear off the bottom and leave all of your information on the tag. It not only allows the receiver of the gift to know that it was handmade, but it leaves all of your information for future sales! I know these pics are backwards, not enough coffee co...

Open house 2010

Image
This was the night before.  There was actually no other place to sit in the chaos of set-up.  They had been working on the house next door and mistakenly thought that there was room for them here. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures on Friday right before customers started coming, so all these pics are from Saturday AM and we had sold quite a bit by then. I am not sure that Jenn understands my camera any better than I do.  Some of these pics are pretty fuzzy! And another year is done! Now on to the clean-up.  This morning I tackle the sewing room.  I am going armed with a garbage bag and the vacuum for starters.  I am thinking a scoop shovel would work better!

Open House Pics

Some of these may be slight repeats from the last post, but we did manage to pull it all together and the show was a success! By Sunday AM, our three room display had shrunk to one room and everything was well picked over. We learned a lot and plan to do it bigger and better next year. It was a great experience, but tired? I was in bed at 7:40 last night and I think that I might have slipped into a bit of a coma! Highlights: 1. I was able to meet two blogging friends face to face, Lois and Nina, it was great to meet both of you. Nina, your grandsons are adorable, I can only imagine how fun it would be to have them together with my grandsons, a little exhausting, but fun! Lois, hope that you had a great bike ride home, it was such a beautiful day. 2. The girls now have the crafting "bug" and are planning for next year and what fun to have a family project to work on. 3. The nice comments from everyone about how they were happy to buy handcrafted items and not Made in Chi...

Travel Agent Road Trip Post

If anyone is looking for a road trip this weekend...or thinking of one, here is a suggestion. Our Open House is not the only event in the area. Check out these websites. The Christmas Open House is in Smicksburg, Pa this weekend, and Bev from Tymes Past will have her shop open. She is cleaning out a house filled with antiques and goodies. I will have directions to her place at my house. I would love to meet some of you from Blogland! All of these events/places are about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. A great place to spend the day and the weather should be perfect! http://www.smicksburg.net/ http://www.smicksburg.com/ http://www.tymes-past.com/ http://tymespast.blogspot.com/2009/10/antiques-liquidation-sale-spread-word.html
