Giddy Up

Another horse! For this little cutie! Eleanor won't be riding it for awhile, but before her mom and dad realize it, she will be wildly rocking away! And another one for an order, finished last minute before we left on vacation.   Along with a hare for my sister!

More Befores than Afters

JWS came home from the auction last night with this.  I love these chairs, they are so comfortable and fun!  They almost remind me of when people actually sat around outside  and  make me want to take the time to do that!  The paint is a little rough,  but the chair is is great shape.  A little sanding and some spray paint and  I will be sitting.  He also brought this to me.  The chair and the basket.  Some chalk paint and  the material below (that he also brought home) and it should be a treasure!  And one before... that has an after and  just in the nick of time.  This horse was in this shape when my friend asked when she could pick it up on Monday night.  She knows me and how I work, but I was still afraid to tell her that I had not started it!  This morning it is done  and  ready to be given to...

One Down, Two to Go

Or maybe 15 or so down!   I really have no idea how many of these Dad and I have collaborated on! He makes them, I paint them.   For the last 30+ years.       This one was made to match the markings on a horse belonging to the Mom of the new baby!   Dad has two more in the works right now.

What is Waiting to be Painted?

This and This!   But I just can't seem to pick up those brushes!   Hopefully the warmer weather this week puts me in a better state of mind!

Ride 'em Cowboy!

My Dad builds rocking horses and I always get the job of painting them. Seems as though we have had a lot of rocking horses for little girls so when this one was for a boy, I had to think on it for a little while. A Pinto Pony seemed like just the thing. This one was by far the most fun to paint. I looked for a silver concho to glue on and then just decided to paint one rather than keep looking. And of course he needed a bandanna. The finished product. I am once again an "empty nester" I have had a week and a half of having at least one grandchild staying with me and last night when I was alone it was sort of sad. I miss them! Most of all I am going to miss the smile and 'Good morning" this morning. Not to worry though, I pick up Kendall at 7:20 for the day and Logan should arrive at 9. Not lonely for long!

A work in progress

This is for my great neice in Georgia that I have not met yet. I have seen lots of pictures and she looks just like my sister. My Mom and Dad are going to meet her for the first time next month and this will be going along with them. Dad built this rocking horse for her and I have been working on it for the last few mornings before I go to work trying to get it finished. Please pretend that you don't see the mess in the background. I have been trying not to move it any more than I have to at this point. It is not terribly heavy but I am sure that it weighs more than the milk carton that is all that I am supposed to lift. I have high hopes of finishing it this morning. I have to finish this other side yet and the insides of the legs and rocker...which will require lifting it and moving it.....My Mom and Dad are coming here today and tomorrow to help me get this house cleaned and I need to have it finished so that they can take it home with them. I won't be seeing them again be...
