Tolentreasures

JWS baked a rhubarb strawberry pie!  Is is amazing!    Kendall had a softball game last night!  What form!  Garren had kindergarten graduation.  He looks less than impressed!  But he did his spoken part perfect!  All signs of summer coming!  Thanks to my klutzy friend,  I have some great painting surfaces!  She keeps breaking mirrors.  I have a third one in the garage.      And these two flea market finds!  Counted cross stitch and framed  beautifully!  Another crazy week here,  just trying to find time to do  some yard work,  some laundry and  clean those porches! 

Today was my day again to drive to dialysis. For those of  you that were confused on a previous post. my MIL in on dialysis, not me.   We recently set up a schedule to drive her there. So far it is working out great. So, as I am considering my driving day a day off, here is what I did with my day. First, I went to the gym. That was not pretty, it had been awhile since I was there. I can tell already that it is going to be worse tomorrow. Then... I hit the jackpot. I had seen this shop several times but had either been in a hurry, or it was after hours when I went by. Since I had time to kill today, this was my first stop after the gym. WOW! Is all I can say. They have so much stuff jammed in this place. It is called B and R Depot and is on Route 66 just north of Kittanning. B and R as I thought about it later is for Barbara and Ron. They were so friendly and interesting to talk to. I have not been thrift shopping, yard sale shopping or flea market shopping much at all this year.  The last few days made up for that though.  I found these little dolls and a bag of bracelets at a sale the other day.  Gracelyn played witha the bracelets all day today while we shopped.  $1,25. The crystals were $1 for each strand. Quick photo of the afghan I finished before I left this morning.  And this was one of the shops that we went to today.  It is on Route 28 north of Brookville, Pa and on the way to Cooks Forest, interesting shop and pretty good prices. Some window screens and a wire basket.  Why can't I get my pictures clear?    $1.50 for everything.  Some summer reads, but with as much as I have laid out to read this summer, it may be next summer until I get to them.  50 cents each. I bought this picture last week at the flea market. Something about the colors that I just could not resist. It was $8.00 and more than I normally pay for something at a flea market because I am normally cheap and would expect to get this for about..let's say one dollar. This was a big purchase for me. It sat right there for a week until this morning when I had to get it done and hung up. A little paint should do it. As you can see the frame was all chipping and cracked. Not one for the LONG and tedious right way to fix it, I painted it first with Burnt Umber craft acrylic paint. Then I drybrushed it with first Jo Sonja's Copper and then Rich Gold. These are the best metallic paints I have ever used and I don't think that you can buy them retail any longer, not sure about on-line. They just make things look so rich and have so much pigment in them. Here it is, done and hanging in my house. I think that the colors are perfect! Glad that I didn't pass this one...

Gayle had posted and asked for a before pic of the books. These are just paper mache books that I find at Pat Catans. I have not seen them at any other craft store though. They are inexpensive paper mache books. The ones on the left are a little larger than the favors and the ones on the right are the same size as the favors but they are a little smoother and the inside paper is lined. I know that Pat Catans is a more regional shop but I would think that any shop that carries a big line of paper mache would have them. They are all in the .50 to 1.50 price range. I keep one in my purse all the time for little notes and I use one at Christmas for my Christmas shopping lists. Another HUGE thanks to Kathy and Patti for bringing me more yarn for the Haitian ladies. I did not get a chance to go through it at all this week, it has been so hectic, so this morning I finally took it all upstairs and looked through it and will now go back and pack it into the yarn closet.
