An amazing weekend with friends

PRICELESS! As they would say in the Mastercard commercial. That is what we had. It was so much fun to get together with these amazing friends that I have been blessed with via the internet. Who would have thought that such a bond could have been created on a computer. I'd like you to meet them. From left to right, Kathy, from Manitoba, Becky from Maine, Linda from Quebec (Punxsutawney Phil, honorary member for the photo op) Lesley from Ontario, Patti from Wisconsin, and me! We were missing Marie, hopefully at our next gathering she will be present also. We shopped and talked and crafted and of course, we ATE! My dear husband acted as the Chief Cook and Bottlewasher for the weekend and I am truly grateful to him for that, it allowed me to relax and enjoy my all too short time with these terrific ladies! Wish that it could have been longer, but if it had we would have had to build some sleep into the weekend, I don't think that I am caught up yet.

I have lots of catching up to do on everyone's blogs and lot of catching up and more photos to share on mine. Back to regular life now, I am almost back to normal from the surgery, still just get a little tired and sore in the evenings. I have a shower to plan though and a new grandbaby that needs her room decorated before her arrival in June.

What a great weekend! Well, it's Thursday now, that must have a heckuva weekend! Teehee. What a wonderful husband you have, I do not know one man personally that would take on that.....most would hide to the man cave or workshop to stay out of the way!!!

John is a great guy! Super cook and has the patience of a saint, to put up with all of us women! lol Cathy, thanks again for a great weekend. I think I am finally caught up on my sleep as well, I do however miss the clip clop of the buggies out side my window.

The five days were wonderful because we had the greatest hosts who took care of us, fed us, and ferried us to crafts stores, flea markets, antique stores, and back and forth to the airport. Plus they fed us (John is a great cook!) and put us up and even gave me a piece of luggage so I could bring home my flea market finds. What more could you ask for? We are blessed to know Cathy and John.

Ah ! I missed it ! Would have loved to have met all of you ! I am only 15 minutes away, more or less by way of going thru Troutville and Luthersburg , Big Run and Rockton.. the back roads !

Hmm..any antique stores I don't know about around there ?

Did you take them to Smicksburg ?
And to Brookville ?
Is that little tiny antique store across the street from the Rite Aid in Punxsy still open ?

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
