Mother's Day Craft Project

My daughter had her sister and I to her house this morning for a Mother's Day craft project. She had everything laid out and ready for us to start working. Of course, Gracelyn had to help with the dirt!
And help her Mommy.

Shelby, with Gracelyn and Sadie, Shelby's baby is due at the end of June, another little girl to even up our grandchildren to 2 boys and 2 girls.


And these are what we made. They fill in....if I take care of them right and make a sphere of flowers.

Love the smell of these, I had to pick a few and put on my painting table.

And now I am off to "Paint til I faint" Have to finish up all the stuff for the new baby's nursery....will post pics AFTER the shower next week.

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake
