One year ago this week.

I was laying in the hospital after having my hysterectomy. What a difference a year makes. We worked in the yard all last evening and it was so nice to be out there working and cleaning up. I think that I lost the entire summer last year. My yard never did shape up to it's usual form. Hopefully this year will be better.
I finished Kendall's dress yesterday morning. The fabric in these dresses is from material that their mothers had dresses made out of when they were little. I found it in the Big Winter Fabric Clean Up, which by the way is still happening in my sewing room. And isn't this the greatest way to do yard work? Well at least for John is was. I was running the rakes and shovels and I am the one with the blister. I have been wanting these shrubs out for a long time. They were just overgrown and ugly and I thought it was time for a change. While the backhoe was still here, I thought it was the perfect time to get rid of them. Now what to put in there? I have no forsythia anywhere in my yard. I would like a "managed" forsythia and I would like to have a hydrangea also, BUT I would still like to have something green there for the winter. All suggestions welcome.
I had to get another post ready real quick when I realized that some of you have pics come up on your sidebar from the posts and the skull was showing up. I sure don't want to shock anyone! Read on, you'll see what I mean.
I am off to clean my house. Tonight is our Easter with my family and there is a lot of dust hanging around this house.

Love the dresses Cathy, and so special! For the front of the house, hydrangeas sounds beautiful, forsythia only blooms for such a short time, but if you want green I love my holly bushes. bright waxy green all year with an abundance of berries if you get both a male and female bush, since the male bears the berries! What a decision! Let us know what you decide!

Digging shrubs out with a backhoe is so much easier than by hand. Can't wait to see what you plant in the space. Forsythia...nice idea!
