What I've been working on...

This is the bedding for my daughter's baby nursery. I have been working on items to match it for the last few days every chance that I get. When the last baby was born, it seems as though I had so much more time to prepare and make things for the nursery, could it be the addition of another baby has taken so much more time? I don't like to keep going back to the surgery, but it really has taken a chunk of time out of spring. I am really enjoying making things for her though and even if I don't have them all done by the shower this Saturday, I still have a little over a month before the baby arrives to finish some of the other items that I have in mind.

Meanwhile, the Princess is upstairs sleeping away. I have never kept her all night that it did not turn into a non-sleeping event for both of us. Usually she fights me to go to sleep and fights me to stay asleep. Last night I laid her in the pack and play at 8:40 and by nine she was fast asleep and has slept all night! What a relief! I did not want her to be afraid to stay at Grammie and Papa's house. That was really bugging me that she would not stay with us.

We played all evening and I took her to the playground and she loved the swings and slide. Maybe I just wore her out. I know I was tired. This morning is the morning that I keep her and the boys so that the Moms can go to kickboxing class and then I go to the doctor for my final release from the surgery....hot tub here I come. I have really missed relaxing there for a little bit in the evenings!

What fun to have the little one stay over at Grammie and Papa's! Hope your Dr visit goes well and you get your release, then you can enjoy the hot tub.

I'm so glad little princess did well on the overnight. I know the scenario. LOL Things worked out great on our second overnight too. I'm sure this nursery will be darling with that pretty bedding and your special items. Can't wait to see pics. Have a great week.

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
