I love to trade!!

Cathy, who spells her name the same as mine and also lives is Pa, took a serious liking to the train case that I had painted. I offered to trade it for one of her beautiful items and hinted that I loved her blueberries and she sent this to me. Now I had planned to have it in my sewing room, but it is just so pretty that I think it is going to stay right on my end table for now. It is perfect for all that floss that is laying everywhere on the table right now and all the needles and pins also. Thanks so much, Cathy! And then she also sent these pillows to me! What a surprise! They are the start of my fall decorating and are tucked into the items on the hearth. I love them! They are so detailed.

These are a few more items that I am working on for the open house. I love those little canvases from Michaels. They are in the kids section and are $1 each. I need to get some more of those. They are finished on the sides, no staples. Great surface for painting and inexpensive.

Well girl you really racked up!!! I love it all but those pillows are awesome. I gotta check out Cathy's items!!

Love your pumpkins paintings too! If it's not paint by number, you probably won't see anything like that from me!!! LOL!!!

Thanks for the tip about the little canvases at Michaels. My daughter, Jen wants to start painting again and I think that's probaly just the size that she's looking for.

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
