All sorts of new entertainment

Just yesterday, I was lamenting to JWS
that I don't know where summer has gone.
We have been busy at work
and
we have worked some long days
Regretting that we have not been to the zoo,
an amusement park,
not ridden our motorcycles,
etc.

I was looking at the cup half empty.
It has been a bit of a rough time lately in several areas,
all uncontrollable factors at this point in our lives.

And then he pointed out...
a different kind of entertainment.
We have been to these.

Horse races at the fairgrounds next door.

Grandchildren and simple entertainment.
Kendall was totally entertained playing in the sink while I cooked supper.

The boys at work....
have found ALL the settings on my phone camera.
(Hence the black and whites at the top of this post, but I kind of liked those!)

And golf ball/tee bowling.
Papa built them the lane for it and they have had tons of fun with that.

And county fairs.
As a fair manager, JWS, with me in tow,
now has full access to any county fair.
FREE!
What a great perk.
Last night was the Clarion County Fair.
I loved how they displayed their
Best of Show.


A suggestion I will be bringing back to our fair.

And this...
A bit of a redneck sport.
But it actually wasn't a bad evening.
There have been a few times that I have questioned life's direction this summer.
Two gun raffles,
that would/could/should be my quota for life.
And now there will be
Two tractor pulls this summer.
Another quota met.
A lot of work at the fairgrounds,
but new friends made,
and close to home
entertainment.


And lastly,
the boys found some entertainment in clothespins the other day.
Simple pleasures!

Today I am the DD for the day.
Dialysis Driver
as we have come to call it.
I will drop the patient
and then
spend the day with my two favorite little girls in the world.
Gracelyn and Kendall.
And
that adorable little
Baby Garren.

Just a different kind of entertainment this year.

Time to look a the cup half full!

Honey, with all you have going on in your life, You and your post are full of ENTERTAINMENT and smiles for all of us.
Looks like this summer you have found joy in the simple things that we so often take for granted. Mr JWS did good to help you recall these simple pleasures.
Those grandkids are precious. Have fun with the "girls" today.

You are always so busy, and surrounded by your precious grandchildren. They look like they are a fun age.

So you can go to any county fair? You should visit ours! It is one of the best county fairs around...it is bigger than our state fair!! Sweetie - you truly think you need MORE entertainment in your life??? Really??!! ;o) It just might be the poke that pushes you right over the edge!! And we couldn't have that happening!! What would WE do then for OUR entertainment?? Seriously, tho, ahhh, the gun raffles and the tractor pulls?? There's a word I'm gonna share with you that has magical powers....you should try it sometime...It's "NO!" Love the grands - playing in the sink, the clothespins, the bowling lane - wow - they're some fortunate kids to have grands like you and JWS....Hope your weekend was well....Mine was a different kind of "well...." :O Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
