Spring has Spring

This bush has never bloomed before this year. 
I planted it about three years ago and finally...

there are flowers!
Tons of them!

And so pretty.

Under the watchful eye of Arnold the cement pig,
the daffodils bloomed this morning.

And apparently,
Arnold was not quite doing his job.
Tyler and Logan,
in their zeal of seeing flowers already,
have smelled and touched the crocuses to death.

All except for the hearty little survivor.
Apparently, they seem to like the purple ones better.
They are quite wilted,
but all for a good cause.

Logan is up to 62 robins as of yesterday.

Your pictures this morning, Cathy are a welcome sight as I set here drinking my coffee and having a little quiet time to myself. As I look out my window it is snowing, ever so gently onto the already rain soaked ground. No signs of my tulips or daffodils ;-(

62 robins? Wow. I haven't seen even 1 yet. But, I am watching and they will be here soon. Your flowers are so pretty. What a beautiful color of pink and yellow.

Beautiful pictures Cathy! What is the name of the flowering Bush? I love it! My flowers are just starting to poke out of the ground. I seen 3 robins this morning, I think I'm up to 12 now, Lol! Thanks for sharing!

Gorgeous photos Cathy - and what a beautiful breath of spring....no pretty blooms here yet - but it IS only March.... I'm with the others in asking what that first bush is? I know a lot of plants, but I don't know that one - almost looks like it's related to lily of the valley....love the blush of pink. Thanks for sharing your spring! Robin

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
