Weekend with the Boys

This leaf was on the mini golf course Saturday,
thought it looked cool with the water spots.


Friday morning started with dropping Gracelyn at school,
and returning Garren to his mother,
then off to town to pick up my
new
free
Iphone.
Really who cares if it is a four
and the five is out?
Not me,
when it is free.

When I got back to work,
John had bought
10 cases of tomatoes
at the auction!

That's right, folks,
TEN!

Not bad if you don't have a
seven year old
and
five year old
arriving at
5 for the weekend.




Nevertheless,
here they are on Friday night..
FULL!
Seventy two quarts of sauce.

I can't take any credit.
JWS did this on his own.

Saturday moved on to a rainy soccer game.



Then off to Farmer's Inn,
to hit a bucket of balls
do a little miniature golfing,

check out and feed some animals.

Today,
a fire
and
some hot tub time.

Perfect for a fall day.



Shawnee found a new shopping place
and
I found these two stands there.
The chair was a
Thursday purchase.

This has been sitting,
partially finished in my painting room,
finally it is done!
Finished this last week and it is delivered.

Whew,
I am ready for the recliner...
or bed!
or back to work to get some rest!

Woozers, you made me tired just reading your post. A busy and wonderful weekend you had I am sure. Spending time with the grands is wonderful but tiring to say the least. Beautiful jars of sauce. Wonder if JWS would be interested in giving cooking lessons to my Mister?? Hope you have a restful evening and wake refreshed to face the week.

Some of you asked for this. This is literally one of the EASIEST, most appreciated projects that I have ever made. I timed myself while I made this one and it was finished in under 1/2 hour and that included refilling bobbins, taking pictures, and searching the button box for two matching buttons. They are even faster if 1.) you don't do all of the above and 2.) you make them on an assembly line. Step 1. Cut a piece of fabric for the straps 4 inches wide by 14 or so inches long. If you have a very lightweight fabric, you can double it or use press on interfacing to back it. Step 2. Cut two coordinating rectangles approximately 12 to 15 inches by 15 to 18 inches. This is very loose, you can use vary the size of them. Pin those together on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Step 3. Press the 4 inch rectangle in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and sew around raw edges, then zig - zag the edge. If the fabric frays really bad, you can go over it again. Step 4

Sharpie Markers and Alcohol = Really Quick Art

What a fun, creative process!  Grab all those sharpies that are hidden in your desk drawer. Find that bottle of rubbing alcohol. (Vodka or hand  sanitize might work, you can always experiment) Dig out a canvas,  or go buy some,  nothing like having some blank canvases hanging around.  Draw some wild and crazy lines. Fast and not a lot of planning work best.  Hit it all with some alcohol.  Allow it to move and blend.  I use a brush for the alcohol,  You could use a spray bottle or eye dropper,  I just want a little more control on mine.  And re-outline with a black sharpie!   That's it!  Fast Art!  I will be teaching this next Friday along with two other  fun projects in Mayville, New York.  For more info go to: https://www.facebook.com/ARTRetreatatthelake

Steps to a snowman face, Part 1.

Sketch in the face. Use chalk (I like welder's chalk) and don't be afraid. After all, it is a snowman and they are all different so you can't get it wrong. Paint the face white or light gray or light blue. Just get a base on it and let that dry. Then, and you have to work sort of fast to do this part, lay in three values of color. This one is a medium country blue, a lighter blue and white. I also frequently use Milk Chocolate, Cocoa and an Off-White. Experiment, you might find a better combination. Then Blend, Blend, Blend. I use the largest brush that I can fit in the area. Keep a paper towel folded in your hand and keep wiping your brush. Do not dip it back into the water at this point. Blend between the dark and medium, wipe your brush, blend between the medium and light. Nice soft blend between the values. And then, wipe your brush again and pick up white and drybrush more white in the lightest area. I like to drybrush a little white in the dark areas also. I t
