Kisses, Snow, Stash Busting

Image
Last weekend was spent in Hershey, Pennsylvania, sweetest place on Earth. Kisses Everywhere! On your soap   On your room number, bathroom wall, embossed on the sheets, soap, shampoo, and even on the parking spots.     And then the snow came. And kept coming! Yes, those are cars under there! Luckily, we had the foresight to move our vehicle to the covered parking lot before it started!   Definitely, one of our smarter moves!   On another note, update on the clean out!   382 items have left the house!     Over 10 percent done!

Some painting, 366 Items and off to Chocolate Land

Image
A few painting that I have been finishing up. I have more wall space in my booth and needed to finish some things to fill it up!   These amounted to seven more items leaving my  house.   Bringing the total to...   366!   I am a tenth of the way there to   3650! Today we are off to Chocolate Land.   Hershey, PA for the Pennsylvania State Fair Convention.   Always a fun time!

When not at work at either job, this is what JWS likes to call my third job.   It is too much fun to be called a job! Look at all those smiling faces! How can it be work when everyone is so happy!   It's fun to get people in touch with their creative side!  Want to follow along?   https://www.facebook.com/FallOpenHouse/

Guilty Pleasures.

Image
And... learn something new daily!    Yarn is a totally guilty pleasure.    Seems I can't walk into a store that sells yarn and not walk out with at least one skein!  These were yesterday's purchases. Even more guilty? New scarves for me!  Learn something new?   Bamboo yarn is awesome!  Soft, drapes well and nice to work with. Finished project tomorrow...hopefully! A second guilty pleasure? Boots!    I love them!  Love them even more on sale! What did I learn from that, you ask? Well, even when I was skinny back in the 70's when boots were popular, I had trouble finding ones that would fit my calves.   Now we are talking 110 pounds of skinny and I could not buy boots that would fit over my calves. Forty years and slightly  a lot more than 40 pounds later, it is no easier. Epiphany!  My calves are not too big! My feet are too small for my calves! That's my story and I am sticking to it! And...

All Skate

Image
Ahhh, memories!   And to think I was even was before the disco skating rage.   I was Skirts with marabou edging (how I begged for one of those) Pom-Poms on the toes of your skates Skate socks that pulled down over your whole skate and Organ Music.   The Flea Hop, The Two Step, The Grand March.   Ok, I have dated myself enough.   Yesterday was our second Family Fun, Hope we don't have to call LifeFlight, Skate Day.   And what fun!       A little, local, old skating rink, That you can rent inexpensively, and have more fun than imaginable! From the youngest, determined little bugger that he is,   to the oldest.   Wait.... that is me! (the oldest, that is)   A good time was had by all!

Project 1, 2, 3 and 187 items.

Already I am a little behind on my Project 365. Four days to be exact but who is counting other than me. Shelby's poncho.   I know it looks a little weird.   It is sort of asymmetrical, but it looks cool on.   At the risk of oversharing and mostly because some of you people might think I have it all together. (Only the ones who truly don't know me) This was the dumping of my sock drawer.   Honestly, I like the after picture so much better, why can't I keep it that way? A chair headed to the shop... wait, can I count that as 188 and the poncho as 189?   Of course, my count, my rules!   Trying to make more of these.   I found them all cut and ready to be sewn.   Tutorial here: http://tolentreasures.blogspot.com/2012/01/blue-jean-table-runner-tutorial.html

Gun Cabinet Repurpose

Image
Suppose your have a gun cabinet hanging around unused. What do you do with it?   In the case of this one, it was in our bedroom.   You see we did the responsible thing and bought a gun safe a few years ago and since JWS had built this in high school also a few years ago it did not seem right to get rid of it and since we did not have the foresight to actually put a linen closet in when we added on to the house... voila! Gun cabinet turned linen closet.    I had purchased this wallpaper also a few years ago at a yard sale because     well because I am a bit of a hoarder.     and splurged on some Annie Sloan chalk paint... instead of the normal mixing my own. This was the closest to a BEFORE picture.   Note that at this point we also did not have closet doors... but that's another blog post. (13 years we have not had closet doors! )     And...   JWS even installed shelves!

I love this app!   So much that I spent the 99 cents to upgrade to the pro version!  I would have spent more,  but let's not tell that to it's creator!  Seriously. I downloaded this to my phone last January with the resolution of  doing something creative every day.  There were times I got behind,  and times I was ahead,  but in the end,  I kept up pretty well.  I debated using it this year for my  de-clutter project,  but really at the end of the year, do I want to look at the  junk I threw away  or  the inside of clean cupboards and drawers? I don't think so. So it is back to creative.  Back to the app, It is easy to use and even more amazing is when I needed a tiny bit of help I asked a question and  very quickly had a personal email  from the creator of the app explaining how to fix my issue.  Service like that gets me every time!  The website allows you to see all your ph
