Another Obsession, Zentangles

Image
Did I need it?  Absolutely not!  But I caught the bug.  I have been seeing Zentangles on all my regular haunts.  Facebook,  Pinterest, and Michaels.  And I wanted to try them.  Oh, I tried to hook my sister into it, thinking that would serve my need to see them and not have to get hooked on them myself.  But... she didn't bite.  So this weekend,  I caved and tried it with stuff I had around the house.  Paper,  Sharpies. How cheap of a  craft obsession ADDICTION is that? Well, we will see. I have a doctor's appointment today in close proximity to a Michaels and I may just have to slide in there and see what I might need! In the meantime, I have actually  found a corner of the living room to work.  For some reason,  JWS has not noticed yet that I took over another space in the house for crafting.  ...

Chickens, For Fun or Profit....or just because they need a home.

Image
Ok  so we are not farmers and.. we don't even have a garden, not even a tomato plant this year.  Non-agricultural all the way.  Never mind the 20+ years that JWS spent as a dairy farmer.  Town life all the way now.  So, why do I have incubators of eggs on my dining room table, you ask? Close proximity to the Dayton Fair.  The eggs needed a home  close to the fair.  They will hatch fair week not in my house but at the fairgrounds.  They just needed a shorter commute to the fair and a safe place to  incubate. So for a few weeks,  we are chicken farmers... sort of. And this morning....I am out of eggs to make pork chops... Tempting?  Absolutely not.... someone is going to the store.  My worst fear?  That one of those little buggers decides  to be premature!  How appropriate that the centerpiece on my table...

Odds and Ends

Image
A little bit of this... painting for a customer and A little bit of that... work on the string quilt AFTER I managed to clean the sewing room  and make room  to  work again. Straightening the attic  and creating a space to  price items  for the  Open House.  It will be here before I know it.  And.. I found some t-shirts that made Some fun t-shirt yarn.  Last of all, work on all these "treasures" that I found at the flea market on Sunday!  Nothing  earth-shattering, just bits and pieces of  daily projects.

Thumbprint Sheep Tutorial

Image
Ok,  how easy is this? A great project for kids,  for adults,  for a quick gift,  for  last minute craft projects.  Trust me....EASY! You will need: Acrylic Paints (the colors I used are shown below) Some surface, basecoated. Round brush Liner...or Ultra Fine Sharpie if liner brushes cause you stress.  Your thumb!  These are the Decoart colors that I used.  Start with the graphite or dark gray. Lay your thumb in it  and  pounce it out on your palette until it dries up a little.  Thumbprints all around.  With the round brush, lay in a little grass under the sheep.  Then do the same with your thumb and the off-white paint right on top of the graphite ones.  Add some fun little  legs  and  heads  and tails. A few dots with a pen tip to look like flowers.... and  viola!...

Mining

Image
It has been quite the on-going project.  Logan is mining under the garage.  A wide selection of tools and he is using them all.  A nice collection of  shale  unusual rocks neatly displayed. And the proud miner.  Summertime fun!

Chalk Paint Transformation

Image
Still loving these chalk paints!  Who knew a box of paint from Decoart would provide so much entertainment? This little bench was $1 at the auction. The little motif on the back? Another dollar at Michaels.  Decoart so kindly provided paint and wax  for me to experiment. The fabric was in the hoard  stash.  And here was the before.  Sorry about the condition of these containers.  Really, I am not the neatest painter!  And I am off part of today to paint with two friends. Packing up my collection of chalk paints for them to play with!  I have been trying to plan this painting day for almost a year. Can't wait to spend my day with them!

Such a Funny Little Boy

Image
Two weekends ago  I had this little boy and his sister for the weekend.  Let me tell you,  He cracks me up.   I haven't had a poop post in awhile, but have to share his  Friday Morning Bathroom Comment. He had quite the bout of diarrhea starting. The first event was really something.  His comment while peering at the results? "I pooped like a meercat!" Not sure where that came from.  As a little background.  He is my daughter's child. His Aunt Jenn is my step-daughter, thus no genetic connection.  After I made a comment to his sister that  she is looking more like her Aunt Kayla, her father's sister, Garren pipes up and says. "and I look like my Aunt Jenn" This little blonde fair skinned boy thinks he looks like his  clearly Italian heritage Aunt Jenn.  The ferris wheel at Idlewild was his favorite!  We had to ride it  twice....
