Wool Owl Tutorial

Image
You will need: Lightweight cardboard or card stock Freezer paper Scraps of felted wool or other fabrics. Small amount of embroidery floss Small amount of Polyfil Regular sewing supplies. 2 small buttons. and a short amount of time! If you right click on this picture and copy it to your computer you will then be able to print this out for your pattern. I am not sure about the sizing.  You may have to play around with that. Sorry, I am not a computer whiz! I always use a circle template for my circles.  Trace the pattern pieces onto heavy card stock or lightweight cardboard and cut out. Then trace them onto freezer paper. Head on over to your stash of wool. Mine just happened to be still laying on the floor from the last project. And pick out your colors... then iron the pattern on to the wool. The waxy side sticks just enough. Cut out all pieces. (That is my favorite part) Begin blanket stitching everything down.  I start with this side and go to the other wing, then straig

A mini crisis

Image
I am aware of all the flooding issues in this country. Or somewhat aware. My morning news time has been interrupted for a few days. So actually we should call this a micro, itty bitty, tiny, mini crisis. It was enough to send JWS over the top. Jenn and I laughed. Perspective, JWS, PERSPECTIVE!!! Yesterday AM, the rain came down, HARD and FAST! The shop started to flood. Boxes of shirts had to be moved, quickly! Gracelyn ran. See that calm, little boy in the background?  All of a sudden we hear this pounding. Pounding and Muffled Yelling. We all head to the source of the sound. Abandoning the water issue. Closed door with Gracelyn standing outside it saying, "It's Ok, Logan, don't cry, You're not a baby, you're a big boy and big boys don't cry." He had locked himself in the embroidery room. Jenn went outside to the window to try to talk to him I was outside the door trying to tell him how to unlock it. JWS was gone. I thought maybe gone like... went o

Of Garren Shane Kirkpatrick 6:02 AM 5.17.11 6 pounds, 14 ounces And his first picture... here! I actually got to be present at the birth. What an experience! And Gracelyn's first look at her new baby brother. And finally last night when she got to get her hands on him. She was so excited.  She did not want to put him down! However... this was the night before when she Partied Like a Rock Star. Literally. Bouncing Off The Walls... and Windows Time of photo 3:45 AM I think. In a pensive moment around five in the morning. Still Waiting. And last evening, cuddled with Mommy and Baby Yesterday afternoon spent with her cousins. And Aunt Shelby took them all to my house so that I could get a little work done. How does she get them to do this?  I think she Photoshopped this picture. They are never that calm for me! She even vacuumed my house and made cupcakes. Must be nice to be young! So Grandchild #6, Garren joins Tyler, 5 Logan, 4 Gracelyn, 3 Kendall, 2 Wyatt, 6 months My

Three Little Pigs

Another hectic week in.  The theme for this one is Three Little Pigs or Pork Fat Rules OR How many gun raffles can you attend in one month? Two gun raffles would be enough for one lifetime for me. Let alone, two in a month. Back to last Saturday, John attends this huge, how can you get any more redneck, extravaganza gun raffle annually. He looks forward to it like Christmas. He asked me to go this year.  Reluctantly, I said yes. I mean after all, He has endured craft shows, art fairs, quilt shops, and more. It's only one day. How bad can it be? It was bad. It was sitting in a traffic jam for hours, twelve hour layover in airport without your cell phone, stuck in an elevator with smelly people kind of bad. I looked for the fun. I tried. Really, I did. It just wasn't there. And then the food. Three types of pork. Sausage Kielbasi Pulled Pork. All excellent, mind you. Two types of cabbage, Sauerkraut and Coleslaw Corn and Potatoes. Anyone want to venture what that menu does to y

Disclaimer:  Everything you are about to read is true.  The names have not been changed to protect the innocent.  They are NOT innocent, they are all mostly to blame for my issues.  I am beginning to think that senility is NOT real.  You just get so old and tired that you pretend to "check out" so everyone leaves you alone. I am so close. Will they let me have knitting needles and paintbrushes in "The Home?" If so, I am there...today! But, that being said, How can you not love these little faces? And now for the story. I am calling it Freaky Friday. 5:00 AM My foot hurts really bad.  I have been having problems with it, this week was worse than normal. Could be the living room painting for two evenings, up and down the ladder. Could be the eight hours a day spent standing on concrete pressing numbers on Little League shirts. Could be the three miles that I walk a lot of mornings. Who knows?  It just hurts. So I cancel my walk. Quick message on Facebook and I am in
