That Favorite T-shirt

Image
C'mon, you know you have it. That favorite t-shirt that should have been long ago "retired". Actually, I have a few, but this was my favorite. You can't see it in the picture, but, when I put it on yesterday the armhole ripped out and sadly I knew our relationship was coming to an end. Long sleeve, roomy, soft, cozy, paint stained, long enough to cover my derriere, patterned enough to not wear a bra! At home, of course So, hoarder that I am, I could not give it up completely. I mean after all, I had been in the relationship with this t-shirt longer than I have been married to JWS. So, in the effort to maintain this relationship it became COASTERS!

Three more finished.

Image
The little pennants have been partially finished for over a week. Number three. Rug finished. Number 4. The big pennants. Number 5. Ann is way ahead of me on this challenge, however, I am really happy to have at least finished something or some things. This is what we call the Casnabberfort on our deck. Named by the carpenter that built it. The name stuck. After the untimely death of the camper, (more on that in another post) I decided to decorate this area with the collection of camper decorations that I had started. Getting mixed reviews. What do you think?

A Challenge & Two More Finished

Image
Ann at A Hole in the Basket issued a challenge to me to see which one of us could finish the most projects by Friday! Always up for some motivation.. I accepted!  If anyone else wants to join in just comment here and we will link your blog and sign you up. There might even be a prize! So that being said, the two pillows above are one and two. Of course, it would not be fair to have yesterday's finishes. A few more blocks on the stash buster. And if you saw yesterday's post, you might recognize the disaster rat's nest of fabric. All organized, that should speed things up. And a project in progress. A bath mat throw rug that I started awhile ago, got a few more rows this morning. So any takers? Let's see how many things you can finish this week.  Comment here or over on Ann's blog, and join in!

Finishing!

Image
Once again, I have something like 47 projects started, and nothing finished. So... it is time to finish some projects. Pillows above, I think I have 5 or 6 more of those started. And these flags... just started on Saturday, I had four more waiting to be done. This apron, I started a month or so ago. And this tangled up mess on my sewing table... is a stash busting project. My mom showed me one that she was making and I just had to START that also.  Really, just a block a day for let's just say two weeks should finish that up. Hope that everyone has a great week. Mine is wide open for the first time in weeks. I am loving it! Nothing like a blank calendar!

Ahhhh, Summer

Image
Loving it! Outside sitting spaces, Tons of flowers, A little embroidery, Some painting. And some knitting. Along with a lot of mowing, weedeating, and watering. But all fun! As a side note, the painting was for friends that are redoing a room. He is a plasterer and does ornamental plaster work. I have been on mission trips with him, but have never been to their house. They asked about colors for a room that they are doing and I told them that if they brought a sample of the plaster to me, I would paint some "ideas" on it. The perk for me? I got to visit their home last Sunday and WOW! It was so interesting! It made me want to rip all the drywall out of my house and start over, but we all know that is not going to happen!

My New Friend, Dixie

Image
Where is my summer going? Well, one night a week is spent with my new friend, Dixie. I am here to tell you that when we first met, I did not think that we were going to be friends. She was way too "fast". I tried to keep up with her, tried to be just as fast, but really, I am just too old. It was her or me, one of us had to slow down if this relationship was to continue smoothly and grow into a friendship. Personally, I loved her speed, it was fun, a bit wild and bumpy, but it was going to be a nasty break up if we kept up that lifestyle. So we slowed down, a little. We fine-tuned our relationship. We even got a few "counseling" sessions, and now our friendship is growing. We meet up every week at the fairgrounds and spend an evening together. We are learning our boundaries and beginning to work as one. Oh we still have our battles and some I am embarrassed to say, have become a bit abusive, b
