Amish Post-Its to Icloud

Let's just say that the morning started off so wild that by the time I got to work I decided to take notes.   (The photo above will be explained later, hang on, it was one of those days) I knew that I would not remember it all.  So, I get up  and get my shower and  nothing fits.  Nothing!   I was headed that way and  I knew it was coming. Just  Too  Much Food. Why do I do it?  If that is not enough to start a day off wrong... Out the door at 7:30 with  too tight for my pudgy body ill fitting clothing. Quick round of hide and seek and chase at Shawnee's house, just enough to get everyone amped up and we go to the bus stop where as the bus is stopping  yellow lights flashing a white pick up truck hits the gas to apparently beat the red lights.  And I am angry. Later JWS would say,  "Didn't you get the license plate?" Well "Excuse ...

Mid Century Decor

Image
Yesterday, I went on a bus trip with my mom to Amish Country.   Holmes County, Ohio. The largest Amish settlement in the country, and so on.     I heard a lot of Amish facts. The bus driver was very informative. I live in Amish country, not a big place, not "fancy" Amish with phones and bicycles and scooters and well... how to put this delicately.... hmmm, sometimes I just wonder how much to put out there.   Let's just say that not only are these Ohio Amish people FANCY, they are also ... nice smelling!    There I said it.   They work in stores and restaurants and wear white athletic shoes. No barn or horse or "other" smells among them.   It must be Saturday night every night there!   So, quilts and fabric and apple butter and baked goods and hats and wool and woodcrafts and   well, all that aside... I found camper deco...

Laundry Day

Image
We took a little ride on Monday to find an Amish canvas shop and soon realized that it was laundry day. I wish I could have got more pictures, but, JWS was going a little faster than I realized. Most of them were pretty blurry. And then, this is what we found. Yes, that does say, "Call at house 1-800-WHOA" Apparently, that is Amish humor. We snapped a few pics while we waited. Beehives on the ceiling. And how about this adding machine?   Finally, this week, I managed to finish the cushion covers for my camper dinette.   The procrastination was worse than the job.

Let's go for a ride

Image
Yesterday, we returned dishes, visited and rode around in the snow.   The top picture is the view across the backyard when we returned home. A Deer in someone's yard. An Amish farm,   with laundry on the porch.   Sort of makes one thankful for a dryer. Another deer. This is what most of the roads we were on looked like, but then, we sort of chose the back roads.   Although, I am not a huge fan of winter, it was a really pretty day.

Yarn Bombing

Image
Sometimes I get a little manic. I fight it, but dangle something new in front of me (or a least new to me) and I am off on a tangent. I saw these on Facebook thanks to a wonderful creative friend, Pam at http://grammysalteredlife.blogspot.com/ Dear Pam, I put that there so that my children can track you down!   I had to try my own small version of it. For all of you that like the Amish, I had to include this pic with the horse and buggy. It started like this, with some stuff I already had... and just "grew" all over the living room floor. Jenn helped me install this much this morning, looking over her shoulder lest anyone she know should see her actually helping the crazy lady. But then, once installed, she stepped back and informed me that it needs to be BIGGER! Oh my, that should send me digging through the yarn stash again! One thing is for sure... This is the FIRST yarn b...

Another "Normal" Day

Image
Crafts and Craziness. That is how they go for me. I was on the DD delivery, Delivering my MIL to Dialysis. No time to waste, there were 21 boxes of shirts arriving and I had to get back to work.  But first, a stop at Walmart. Hair elastics for these wallets, some thread and an errand for my MIL Quickly, but it turned out VERY QUICKLY! Two bats, yes BATS! flew within a foot of my legs. Anyone who knows me, knows that bats are my worst fear! Really tight spaces would be next, but they are mostly avoidable or pre-planned drugged situations such as airplanes. Bats are unpredictable and now they are even in Walmart! Let me tell you, I vacated fast! Anyway, back to the crafts. I found this link. http://www.aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com/ and wow! They have the greatest tutorials! Check them out! Anyway, I have this hoard of sample books and am always on the lookout to find projects to use them up....

Barn Raising and My New Job!

Image
This barn is being raised at the fairgrounds and right below our home. JWS is more than slightly pre-occupied with all this right at the moment. This is the view of it from our back yard. It is a draft horse barn for the fair and will hopefully be ready for the fair when it starts in less than a month. There are better pics on JWS' phone, but he is gone for the day. So how does this get a new job for me? Well, I am to take pictures of the events of the day for the local newspaper today, but, I already have a job for the day. Deliver my MIL to dialysis and deliver the invitations for my niece's reception (pictured later) to my mother. So, delegation is the key. Jenn, although she does not know it yet, will be the official Leader-Vindicator reporter of the day. Delegate. I love that word! Thursday, while my printer was in the hospital, I found this place. Carnegie Antiques. What a great little store! Hot...
