Let's go for a ride

Image
Yesterday, we returned dishes, visited and rode around in the snow.   The top picture is the view across the backyard when we returned home. A Deer in someone's yard. An Amish farm,   with laundry on the porch.   Sort of makes one thankful for a dryer. Another deer. This is what most of the roads we were on looked like, but then, we sort of chose the back roads.   Although, I am not a huge fan of winter, it was a really pretty day.

Who was ready for this?

Not the apple tree, Not this tree that has not lost it's leaves yet, Not the gerber daisies, And certainly not the burning bush. Not the snapdragons, or the marigolds, and certainly not these hearty mums still perky as ever. Not the petunias, or the beautiful fall leaves, or this little guy and the impatiens wondering what happened to fall.... And most assuredly... NOT ME!!!!

Fleur de Lis

When we were in New Orleans a couple of years ago, I loved these! Of course they were everywhere.  For a quick, interesting read on them check out this site. Fleur DE Lis History and Facts I am not sure if they will sell locally, but once they are varnished, (and you can't see that sealer that shows up now) they will be listed on my selling blog. And speaking of my selling blog, go over there to the right and sign up for the giveaway that I am offering for a nice warm cowl.  Not many are signed up so the chances of winning are good. and if I happen to make it to 50 sign-ups, I will add another cowl. I have quite a few of them made so you will get your choice of colors if you should  be the winner or I am going to go out on a limb here... because  not many have signed up. If you win... You can choose what color of cowl you would like and I will run right out to the yarn store and buy some yarn and make you one in the colors you specify. How's that for personal...

Post Office Woes

Image
Before I start this rant, I would like to mention that this is what most of yesterday looked like here. Take into account that cold weather and snow are not my favorite things in life. And realize that some of this rant comes from THIS! (and by the way, yes it is way past time that I took the awning off my porch) With that said, here is the way my morning went yesterday. I had all the giveaways wrapped up in their nice little bags and tissue. Not as fancy as some of you wrap things, mind you, but the best that I was going to do with them. I went to the post office to get those nice priority boxes that they so generously provide. I had just told my Mom to go to her post office and get some. She said that they are always out of them at her bigger, city post office. I bragged that my tiny, little post office always had them. First mistake. They had none, they were really busy. They tried, but I don't think it was a happy day at the post office. No problem. We have those nice boxes at ...

Time Travel.

Image
I love books and movies about time travel. They can be silly like the Back to the Future series, love stories like The Lake House and The Time Traveler's Wife, or almost gory like The Butterfly Effect. I will watch/read all of them more than once to get the little details out of them. The Time Traveler's wife is on Pay Per View and I am just waiting for a few free hours with the TV to myself to rent it. I read the book, but rarely do the movies have the same effect as the book, we'll see. Thought I would share progress mostly on projects, nothing much that I have finished. These are the growth charts, there is progress, but slow. I can't seem to find the motivation to work on them. First of all, my painting room is right outside our bedroom and I am trying to keep that a quiet zone for John to rest as much as possible. With all the running to the hospital, my clumsiness, that always equals noisiness, would not be welcome right now. My Mom brought this set to ...
