Rocky the Lobster

JWS, left alone at the auctions on Thursday nights has proved interesting. Clowns, neon signs, parrots.   So, I never know what he is going to bring home. Last night he made it home before me.   These books and vintage cards are great! The picnic baskets....re-sellable. The vases?   Maybe to the right person. Pyrex and Glasbake? Wonderful buys....   This shelf....10 feet long?   Really?   You might think that is the worst.     However..... After 12 hours at work.....when I turned the corner to go in the kitchen, This was serenading me with "Won't you let me take you on a Sea Cruise?"       I'd like to send someone on a sea cruise.... without a life jacket!

Suitcases-Not Just for Travel

Image
Wow, do I have a lot of suitcases now!  Wait until you see what prompted this!   First of all, here is a card suitcase that I made for a friend's daughter this past summer. And then I wondered how many I had in the house? This one in my family room, just decorative, holds nothing. And this one holding the phone... it really needs redecorated. This one, given to me by a dear friend. I painted it and it holds small needlework in the living room. That same dear friend, brought these to me this fall. They also sit in the living room and hold my art supplies.   Shhhh, don't tell the grandkids, I don't think they have figured that out yet. These are all in one spare bedroom. Decorative? Not really. They are holding part of the fabric stash. These are in another spare bedroom. Yep, fabric again. Fabric Fabric Buttons.... Oh my! I am a Decorative Hoarder!  Wonder if the...

A Clown Free Auction

And they are rare happenings because JWS generally manages to find clowns.  I "won"  this cute little card table. And this crock, that I quit bidding on and  JWS picked up where I left off.  I have a yellow one like it,  have never seen this color.  I loved this fabric,  however it resembled swiss cheese when I removed it from the  washer. The risk you take. I bought a box,  for the planter below and there was this retro looking ash tray in it.  Ash trays just aren't needed like they used to be!  I have been looking for a set of these salt and pepper shakers  for my camper.  Anyone remember these!  A stand  and a ladder to chalk paint.  And my sister found some treasures also.  The cornucopia? I think she is going to paint it white.

437 Reasons Why JWS Should Not Be Unsupervised At An Auction

Image
Laughing and chuckling at  10:30 last night,  JWS  arrives home from the auction where he was  serving food. Two indicators that it was about to go bad: 1. The truck is sitting at the side door and not in the garage. 2. The side door is propped open.  And He is excited about his finds.... As a side note,  I did not go to this auction because: 1.  I am still tired from the fair. 2. The cleaning lady was supposed to come today and I did not want a mess.  Apparently,  JWS did not get that memo.  So this morning found me  washing  and  sorting and  cleaning and  wiping.  Piles to be junked, piles to go back to the auction, piles of treasures for other people, a small pile to keep and  piles to be priced to go to the shop. He did get some good finds, But there was a lot of sorting to find them.  ...

Yard Sale/Thrift Shop/Dollar General/Whatever I found in my Stash Bedroom

Image
The bedroom was bugging me, and I was getting company.  Mom and Dad  and  Amber, my neice.  TWO bedrooms were needed.  What to do... Search the stash!  So,  the "headboard" was found in the garage.  One of my cupboard door benefactors  had insisted that I take it.  I whined that I didn't want it,  I had no use for it.  However,  I was told if I didn't take it,  I could not have the rest.  So, it has sat,  in the garage  for a lot of years.  The nightstands were a $5 each yard sale find.  Chalk Paint it all and  add the little shelf on top, complements of JWS and it was good to go.  The frame  and  cute little wallhangings, yard sales.  The quilt,  a long ago pass on from a friend.  The shelf unit,  yard sale find. Bentwood, caned rocker, another long ago ...
