Tolentreasures

  These have been in the back of my mind for awhile. Pennants with a twist. So, after cleaning the sewing room, I messed it up again. I am always buying boxes of linens and hoarder than I am, I cannot stand to throw any of them away. Even the stained, ripped ones.   This is what I decided to do with them. Bits of fancy needlework...salvaged!   Some just take a little cleaning and washing and  pressing. Some require a little repair work and some remaking because they are not quite  perfect! But it's fun to go through and see what you can do  with them. A box of old linens is like a treasure chest for me! 

These aprons were a yard sale find. I finally managed to remember to buy some spray starch and press them all neatly. Well, as neatly as I press anyway.    Niagara Spray Starch, wow, the memories that smell brings back! As some of you know that have been following along... I have a new project. A 1967 camper trailer that I am "fixing up" You can follow along here I have been painting and cleaning and scrubbing and digging through my stuff for retro stuff. I found these afghans and washed them up this morning. Finished this rug for the camper. Finished the blue rug underneath and started the one on top for the "living room" of the camper. Here is the kitchen area, had to set it up for this photo.

I am always scouring yard sales, flea markets and estate sales for vintage linens.  The stacks of them that I have stored away, well it just screams hoarder.  It is time to do something with them. These pillows are quick and easy to do, minimal sewing skills required.    The one on the right is painted, however the other two are made from embroidered table runners.  Start by picking the best side of the table runner. If the runner is really thin fabric, stabilize it with some lightweight fusible interfacing pressed to the wrong side of the runner. Next, fold it in half and decide on the size of your pillow.  They will vary according to the design on them.  Cut the edge 1/2 inch longer than you are going to want the pillow to be. I keep the other end, hoarder than I am, there will be a use for that someday. Press under the 1/2 inch.
