Primitive Carrots Tutorial

Image
A couple of years ago, I made the girls Easter décor for Christmas.   We laughingly called these the $200 carrots because of all the time invested in them.   Since then I have simplified the process a little and now actually enjoy making them.   You will need: Aluminum Foil Twine Scraps of fabric Some type of tags (I used paper office supply ones) Bits of greenery Hot glue gun Dark and light orange paint For one carrot, I use about 12 inches of aluminum foil. Fold it once to about an 1 1/2" from the side and then again about 2" down.   This helps make the shape of the carrot. Roll it up and scrunce it in on the bottom. Glue the twine to the bottom. Then glue the greenery in the top.   This allows the glue to set up on the bottom before you start wrapping and honestly saves some finger burns.   Then simply start wrapping. Until they are covered. I painted mine firs...

Easter Decor

The girls asked for Easter Décor for Christmas this year. In the usual fashion, much of it was created in the week prior to the holiday.   That is the excuse for the pictures.... against the washer and dryer on the dirty painting counter, on the wrapping table.... well anyway,     At least they are ready for spring! I have battled a cold and sinus issues for much of the week.   What a way to start out the year!   Back to work today,   I am glad for the schedule that is making me get up and get things done, yet.... I sure enjoyed those long days of rest!

Recycled Easter Decor

Start with leftover glass jars, and plastic Easter Eggs.   Some paper and glue, Some scraps of ribbon and lace and ric rac. And...voila!   Even really bad linens, that you would think of throwing away, have areas that can be salvaged.   I had a little hiccup for the week. Yes, that is a hospital gown. I have been having these dizzy spells and apparently when you are 55 that throws a red flag up. So a night in the hospital and almost every test available and I am home.   So far, so good, all tests looked fine.   Hoping it stays that way!   The start of the first bedspread... making two of these.
