Just Another Day at Work

Image
So, It started this way,  Monday morning customers waiting for me when I got to the shop. I really was not late.  They want a table and chairs.  I find a table that they are looking for in a vendor's booth,  covered with stuff.  I unload it which starts a chain  reaction  that included,,, Moving a cupboard, moving another table, moving the cupboard again, moving a dresser off the porch and inside, emptying another table and  then  rearrange everything.  I LOVE this job!   Love building displays, love putting things together, love helping customers find treasures,  love to hear the memories!  I think I have found my fun place!

A Great Day of Picking!

Metal to add to collages.   A cute little suitcase! Two of these tool carriers A box of aprons and the two little dresses were a surprise! A fun yellow box. I might keep that! A nice little maple stand. Drawers and More Drawers Some nice oak end tables and a handmade bread box.   It was a great day!   I have to get a van!

New Year, New Project

Image
Or, in the words of JWS, "Are you nuts?" "You are 56 years old, you should be slowing down!"   But, the opportunity was there, and I am excited about it.   A New Shop.   I have had a gift and floral shop before, I liked it, but this is different.   Vendor booths, a place for people to sell without the commitment of a full time shop.   A place for us to sell, the Open House was just well, getting out of hand.   So, here goes...   A New Year, A New Venture,   Never too old for something new!    https://www.facebook.com/TimeWorksSmicksburg

The Rest of the Day

After the Suwannee Quilt Shop,  we were directed to  Newberry, Florida, where the nice people directed us to High Springs, Florida, and then on the way home, all on our own,  with the help of a little signage we found.... drum roll, please... Micanopy, Florida! I have decided that I have spent way too much time in my 55 years visiting the  EDGES of the state of Florida!  What a fun day exploring the inside of Florida!  All the towns were very nice,  with great shops and  friendly people.  Micanopy, by far had the most shops and  looked so historical.  We ended up there late in the day and it was Monday and some of the shops were closed.  I would love to go back  and spend the day there just exploring.  This was a display of pottery in an artists co-op  in either Newberry  or  High Springs I am not sure which now....

Suwannee Quilt Shop

Let me start by saying,  I have been in my share of quilt shops.   I am sure, not as many as real quilters, but I would venture to say that  I have seen more quilt shops than your average  non-quilter. IN LOTS  OF  STATES. This shop was by far THE BEST! Quilts,  Antiques, A Soda Shop Food Desserts and a  LOT OF  FABRIC!  A ton of fabric!! Everything was so artfully arranged!  Mom loved it also!  A whole room of Christmas! A room for fall. And then,  Everything else so  beautifully arranged!  Kid's rooms,  Orientals, Batiks, Civil War Prints,  Food Prints,  A room to browse books and patterns.... If you are anywhere close... make sure you visit, or make the day trip to see it.  The food was excellent and there is a lovely tea room  and  antique shop next door....

Find of the Day

We found this great little shop today And amazing enough even a rental car manage to slide to a stop! Just a few orange blossoms left on the trees, but still enough for an amazing aroma!   Mom and I arrived in Florida last night and with the rental car fiasco, didn't get on our way to Ocala until 9:30!   It was 11:00 when we got to my sisters and thanks to the GPS, we had not problems!

Roid Rush

Not hemorrhoids, steroids!   After putting off a trip to the doctor as long as possible for this stupid cough, last week I finally broke down and went in.   I do not like the call, leave a message and wait for someone to call you back process. I do not like the drive to the doctor, I do not like the waiting in the outer office, I do not like the waiting in the inner office, I do not like the weigh-in, I do not like the blood pressure check, (always elevated because of the preceding events)   Most of all, I think that cure is going to kill me one of these times. Antibiotics and Steroids, and the subsequent, pie-eyed, no sleep nights!   However, on the bright side, I do get a lot done. Steroids must be like buying time or adding extra hours into your day, or maybe the drug Speed.   Because while I don't function at top performance on concentrating while taking them, I sure c...
