Recuperation Projects.

Well, this has been way harder than I thought it would be. I guess I didn't plan on how difficult it would actually be for me to lose so much independence! Another thing that I did not realize is the energy and athleticism and grace that it would take to do simple tasks like....go to the bathroom, put on a pair of pants or get a drink of water! Muscles hurt that I never even knew I had! Mentally, I spent a few days actually feeling sorry for myself and well just generally not being a very nice or fun person. At one point, I actually started contemplating inflicting mortal harm on JWS for several reasons, not the least of which included not flushing the commode or carrying the dirty dish towels to the basement. I think I am coming around. Coming to grips with the fact that I might not be the most pleasant or obedient patient and owning it has helped a lot. All that being said, the I Spy quilt is in the frame, the VBS houses are ready, and I have several scarves, a to...

Afghan Progression

It sat on the coffee table from two days after Christmas until New Year's Eve. Then it had to be packed up and put in a basket. I just couldn't stand the mess any longer.  Still working on it, just not allowing it to take over the house any longer. Finished this over the break, or at least all that it my part of it. It is a gift for a friend and another friend is going to quilt it. Another I Spy quilt! And some knitting.... a hat and scarf to keep some little one warm.  There is a story about this yarn... I will leave that for another day.  Back to work today.  Wish I was happier about that!   I sure love being at home!

Ramblings of a Non Deer Camp Widow

Image
This is the view outside my front door this morning. It certainly brightened my mood! Sunrise and Sunset, while we don't have fantastic, uninterrupted views of them, I am thankful for the views that we have! .And now on to the ramblings. Anyone remember this post? http://tolentreasures.blogspot.com/2011/11/ten-good-things-about-deer-camp.html One short year ago. Well this year ends a long standing tradition. JWS is staying home for deer camp. Those of you who know us, would say it is only a nine year tradition that you are alone for deer camp. True, very true. But you see, I began a tradition of being alone (well except for those child rearing years when you are NEVER alone)  for deer camp in 1978 in another life. Thanksgiving over, a long weekend off work before the chaos of Christmas starts. I loved it. No wait, I cherished it! How quickly it was gone! I heard those words several ago, "I don't thi...

Finishing - Starting - Timing

Image
About the only things on this post that are FINISHED are these. I had cut out extra and finally got them done. One goes into the bin for the open house, One will be given away soon.... Watch for it! The final vote around my house was to coffee-stain. Then starch and glitter. The next pic, hopefully will be on the tree. And A few for the giveaway. These are all the pennies left to do for that HUGE project that I am getting real tired of making. Hopefully the next pic will be on my table. Back to the I Spy quilt. I started this awhile ago. As in probably two years ago, awhile ago. I would have to look back. I am sure I blogged it. It is back out for awhile. As soon as the penny rug is done. Some blue jeans to be made into table runners. Or a blanket if I get real industrious. More on that later. One other finished, but not by me. This cute little ornament came in the mail on Saturday! Painted by one of my Painting Ladies! Marie from Marie's Country Woodcrafts Click on over and...
