Confession is good for..

Ok, well let's just be honest. How many of you can't resist starting a NEW project? Oh, I read your blogs, most of you are like me, some are not. I can't believe the willpower, the fortitude, the organization, the OCDness, of some of you who say, that you finish one project before you start the next. Really?  I have at least twenty seven projects STARTED at one time. I know that I don't have the mittens done yet. but in all honesty. I work on them until my hands cramp, which is usually about 20 minutes at a time and then I switch to something else. I must say, they are almost done right now. About three more twenty minute sessions, and they will be complete. So, with that in mind... I started the scarf above! I could not resist. I love the pattern, even though Jennifer said,  "It looks like you would be wearing a doily." I guess I have worn stranger things. If I like it, I am heading straight to some really nice more $$$ yarn. I don't treat myself to good...

Winter Blahs

Image
Such a negative title, but I am fighting them. Trying to stay positive, But, it's really not my favorite time of year. For years, January meant a mission trip to the Dominican Republic or a trip to Florida. A break from winter anyway. Hershey was fun but it was still winter. So, I am knitting, a set of mittens for a friend. and some more cowls. A chair found at a thrift shop, waiting for the paintbrushes,  if i could just make myself pick them up!   JWS is buying this by the case. And today... I think that I will plant this Chia Pet. My MIL received this as a gift. I think that the kids will like watching it grow. And a winner in my giveaway! Theresa of Theresa's Heartfelt Stitches won! Congrats Theresa! And I won a giveaway! I am so excited. Carmen at Primcats picked me for her unbirthday giveaway! I am watching the mail daily!

Snippets from the Weekend

Image
Photos from the weekend!  It was a great time, time with my Dad, so many old memories, made some new friends, and made some new memories. Part of our work crew. This was Sunday at noon, we were all getting a little tired! Photos of the Blue Streak. Saturday night we rode it. I even got my 79 year old father to ride it! New parts and old parts. So great to see it being restored. We did a lot of leaf raking.. most of it in the rain and cold! Love this sentiment! And I even managed to get some projects done for the open house. Not much to do in a hotel room when you wake up at five in the morning... So I crafted! Almost done with the 40 or so of these that I cut out! Some stockings and mittens. And these pinwheels.  I can't remember where I got this pattern. I would love to give the person credit. If anyone knows, let me know and I will post the link. They are pretty quick and easy to make. And finally finished the pumpkin pillow.  I know it has a price ta...

Panic Button

Image
It was time to hit the panic button. It happens every year. Where did the year go? Really? Christmas is less than a month away? I still have this... and this... and this... and these... and these... and about eight cabinet doors to paint. Before. Christmas. But the real panic set in when I tried to load this adorable little snowman template to get rid of the Blogger Template thing that I didn't like and POOF! It all went away. Everything! I think I felt my heart skip a beat. Or two. Actually I think I had 9-1 dialed, when I told myself. Calm, Calm.... I read, I hit help, panic some more, help again. Calm. Coffee. Calm. It had to be somewhere and I had to find it. Finally, I was back. The next thing I searched was the info on how to back-up your blog. Found it. Saved it. Whew! You might think all those things to paint in one month would be enough to panic anyone? Losing two years worth of blogging for me would be the real issue! The mitten picture at the top is just for those of you...

The Never Ending Projects

Image
I have myself in quite the mess. I am calling in the Never Ending Project Syndrome. You see, I started this before the Open House and never quite got it finished.  Now it is in the way and needs done and out of there but, I paint and paint and paint and there seems to be no end to it. And then I got myself into this project.  A man at our church goes to two nursing homes every Sunday and worships with the residents. What a ministry he has! I offered to make walker/wheelchair bags for his (what I thought was a little) flock. Two Sundays ago, I told him that I would have them in a week for him and oh, by the way, how many do you actually need? My mind was wrapped around the number 12. THIRTY!  was the number I heard him say. "THIRTY!" I repeated just a trifle louder and more panicked than I probably should have. Thirty it is.  I offered. So I am sewing and sewing and sewing and sewing. And then these little buggers. I had my Dad cut these way back in January....

Good, Better and I Think I Got It

Image
Well really, the first one is not really even good.  I found this pattern for crocheted mittens.  It didn't turn out so good.  The second one was knitted last night with lots of help from my local knitting guru friend, Carol.  Always good to have a knitting guru friend that understands the directions and can SHOW you what they mean.  Not perfect, but I somewhat got the concept.  Then last night when the caffeine from the delicious coffee that went with the delicious pumpkin cranberry dessert (you see my knitting guru friend can also do other amazing things like bake and cook) kicked in, I started another one and figured out the mistakes that I made on the first knitted one. I am starting to think that it might be easier to buy those dollar store gloves and mittens to go with the hats and scarves, but really....I know that I can master this and how much warmer these will be on little hands. And the most amazing purchase of the week.  Mon...

More trees...Project 23, 24 and 25

Image
Shelby's tree is finally finished and although I wanted to have them to give to the girls on Thanksgiving, that did not happen because we had Thanksgiving yesterday. The other two trees would have normally been one project but since I am getting down the the wire on my 30 days, I am calling them two projects, hey my challenge, my rules right? Holly gave me this tree a couple of weeks ago and I am really excited with how it turned out. It is going to sit in my kitchen and keep me on track with the countdown. Thanks again Holly, I love it! Five more to go! Can I do it? I have a little scarf started for my granddaughter that should be easy to finish yet today and have in mind my other four...if I could only stay home for the weekend!

What a great Sunday!

Image
After going to church this morning, I came home to an entire day at home alone. The guys are off doing whatever it is that guys do to prepare for the start of bear camp tomorrow and I had the house and the remotes to myself which allowed me to watch whatever girlie shows that I felt like watching on the "good" tv. I started with a marathon of Whatever Martha..that is one of my new favorite shows, and then a concert of Matchbox Twenty in HD...does it get any better than this? Anyway I had all these ornaments cut out already and I was able to get them all sewn together today. They are for another of those small trees and I found the cutest little clothespins to hang them on the tree with, I just want to stain them just a little before I use them. The guys are back now, I have lost the remotes and of course football is now blaring. We are hosting bear camp this year at our home and although I don't have a fancy house, I have seen the camp that they normally stay at and this ...
