Another "Normal" Day

Image
Crafts and Craziness. That is how they go for me. I was on the DD delivery, Delivering my MIL to Dialysis. No time to waste, there were 21 boxes of shirts arriving and I had to get back to work.  But first, a stop at Walmart. Hair elastics for these wallets, some thread and an errand for my MIL Quickly, but it turned out VERY QUICKLY! Two bats, yes BATS! flew within a foot of my legs. Anyone who knows me, knows that bats are my worst fear! Really tight spaces would be next, but they are mostly avoidable or pre-planned drugged situations such as airplanes. Bats are unpredictable and now they are even in Walmart! Let me tell you, I vacated fast! Anyway, back to the crafts. I found this link. http://www.aspoonfulofsugardesigns.com/ and wow! They have the greatest tutorials! Check them out! Anyway, I have this hoard of sample books and am always on the lookout to find projects to use them up....

Last two painting orders!

Image
Jumping for Joy! Doing the Happy Dance! Whatever you want to call it. My painting orders are DONE!  D O N E Done!  I knew that this stable was coming, Had no idea what it was going to look like... A gift for a little girl that is into everything horses. Her Mom had asked if I would paint it. Sure! Then it arrived! And it is BIG! Really BIG! These pics were taken in JWS's garage. Which sort of turned into Santa's workshop for a few days. I should have stood by it for the pics. For scale. It is sitting on an eight foot table and I had to stand and reach to get to the top of the roof. They are going to varnish it and finish the inside. Her initials are EC, so I made it personalized on the door. And this sled that has stumped me for some reason... is now also DONE! Let the holidays begin!  JWS even managed to fix the stove enough that we could have two burners to limp through Christmas. I'll be making food tonight for the party on Saturday!

Wool Ornaments Free Pattern

Image
You will need: Felted Wool and Embroidery Floss Colors of your choice Jute Assorted buttons or beads Polyfil Freezer paper Cardstock or old greeting cards. Regular Crafting Supplies This is the pattern.  This is on a sheet of 9 x 12 paper and the box is 2 1/2" x 3" I am going to take this to work with me and scan it and create a .pdf file. If you want that, email me and I will send it to you. Trace these patterns onto cardstock. I have been using old greeting cards, colorful patterns and really?.. I was beginning to hoard them, it was time to put them to use. Trace the patterns on to freezer paper. Iron the freezer paper to the wool.  You don't actually cut the pattern out of freezer paper, you leave paper around the edge of it. It is easier to cut out the wool accurately if you are cutting through the paper and the wool. Make sense? I hope so. Now go to your recliner or couch and cut away and make a big mess. I did use the rotary cutter to cut out the squares. Way fast...

Snowman Board Tutorial - Free Painting Directions

Image
Supplies: Decoart Americana paints Cocoa Milk Chocolate Hauser Green Medium Black Antique Gold Antique Maroon Butter Bleached Sand Heritage Brick Tangelo Orange Evergreen Country Red Assorted brushes. Star Stencil Start by painting the center area of the board with Cocoa and shade with Milk Chocolate. The outside edges are painted with Hauser Green Medium and shaded with Black. Stencil stars in the corners with Antique Gold. (I like to stencil using cosmetic sponge wedges) Add some checkers with Antique Maroon using a 1/4" brush. The trick to these is thinning your paint, but not using a lot of paint on your brush. Too much paint will cause them to look rounded. Sketch in your snowman face and hat and letters with chalk. Then base in the face using Milk Chocolate in the darkest areas, Cocoa for the medium and a brush mix of Butter and Bleached Sand for the lightest areas. Blend and dry brush with the Bleached Sand. Repaint the start with Antique Gold and shade with Milk ...

Winter pictures and textures!

Image
Plowing, he whines, but I think that he enjoys it! Aren't these cute little hats on these? Sedum The plow did not go by until 6 this morning. Great textures! Waiting for warmer days. I think I am off to build a real one soon, the last call was Tyler "Gramma Cathy, do you want to come over and play in the snow with us, we can build a snowman?" How do you say "no"? And can't you just see a face here? No landscaping needed here. And one more of the road. This was the least amount that I found. Our group, that I was to be with, is heading home from the Dominican today. I think they might have an extended trip. I guess that there are worse things than being stuck where you can see palm trees and the Caribbean. Off to build a snowman!
